Yeah it’s pretty awesome. Especially since WWII was still pretty fresh when they beat West Germany in 1966 and coined it.

In 2010, I was in the Navy. Our ship was in Halifax during the World Cup. There were a German ship and a British ship docked on the same pier as us. A few buddies and I went to a bar in town to watch the England/Germany knockout game. That was the first time I ever witnessed how much England hates Germany. It was also the first time I heard the chant. I spit out a beer laughing so hard. I thought WW3 was about to break out in there.

Are you a Brit?

I worked in London and Reading for 18 months. Watching Man-U vs Chelsea in 2012 was the game that got me hooked on soccer. Almost got my arse kicked after the game by a group of skinny teen punks. All part of the experience.

Germany ran up and down the field that game but England got fricked pretty hard. They were down 2-0 and scored then "scored" another from almost halfway out right after the restart that would have tied it. But the officials weren't paying attention because they didn't expect that to happen and didn't see the ball cross the line. I would have liked to see how that game would have gone at 2-2.
