Garber said two offers from foreign clubs were recently rejected by MLS: a $5m offer for a player on NYRB, and a $15m offer for someone on Atlanta United.

Man, I really don't like the sound of a 28-team league. They should've capped it at 24.

Also found this list interesting:

quote:

The league made it clear that while only Cincinnati, Detroit, Nashville and Sacramento are being considered for the next two expansion teams, all remaining markets are under consideration for the following two expansion clubs that will be announced at a later date. Those include Charlotte, Indianapolis, Phoenix, Raleigh/Durham, St. Louis, San Antonio, San Diego and Tampa/St. Petersburg.

After the showing that the city of Nashville put on for the USMNT match vs. Panama, I think they will be one of the four selected.

Also, Cincy having a storybook/Cinerfella season should obviously be the other.

Which is bullshite if the club actually wants to sell the player and reinvest the money

24 is big enough

28+ will make the quality of play worse

Garber just wants those expansion fees to project the league is making money despite clubs taking loses.

Atlanta didn't want to sell its player. It's Almiron. They're going to wait for a monster deal for him.

My quick guesses for the players are Tyler Adams and Miguel Almiron. Could also be Josef Martinez.

Here's what the MLS should do instead:
1. Tell everyone you're doing a Pro/Reg system with 40 teams.
2. Figure out how much money the previous owners put into buying their MLS team in the first place.
3. Take the above number, divide it by 16. You can use a calculator.
4. Tell everyone that the first 16 people that promise to open a club in a different city to front the number of dollars calculated from step 3, get a MLS club.
5. Take the money raised from Step 4 and pay off the people who originally bought into MLS.
6. Dump the bottom X teams into the "relegated" league so that there are 20 teams remaining in the "Top" league.
7. Play with two leagues of 20 teams in a Pro/Reg system.
8. Profit??? (Maybe not for a while)

First off, the Crew are gone. Secondly I'm sure they will reward Cincy a team thinking it will appease Crew fans. The thing is all Crew Fans hate FC Cincinnati and vise versa. Columbus Crew fans will not support FC Cincinnati. Don Garber can GFH too!

Apples to oranges, my guy.

All of those leagues are the best in the world, making their talent pools much deeper and higher-quality.

MLS is down the list on a global scale, and it’s still not a major sport stateside yet.

I am in favor of this, with the NASL & USL being tier 3 & 4.
