I'll take a Gerrard trip if I don't have to sit in an MLS environment whenever I make my next trip to Anfield.

His open play chance conversion rate last season makes Giroud seem world class (not that that's at all the end all be all for a striker by any means, but he was damn wasteful). He's definitely a better goalscorer though, no question about it. Welbeck hasn't shown that he can be the guy yet.
Basically my point is, I wouldn't really want balo on my team at any significant outlay of cash. There's a reason he has bounced around as much as he has at his age with his potential. eventually the guy needs to accept some blame and mature. Hopefully he isn't being counseled by Liverpool fans because, frick, you guys can shift blame better than anyone
Expecting things to go great with him in the medium/long term is as realistic as arsenal fans expecting welbeck to bang in 20+ goals this year. you can make a decent argument that it will happen, but it isn't likely.

Like I said, I had my reservations, but he's a red now... All I have is hope he plays up to what he's capable of... I expect a meltdown at some point.. I just hope its against Burnley, when he's pulled off in the 85th minute, after we're up 4-0...

Depends on your idea of "medium/long term". If they get 2 solid seasons out of Balo it is worth it IMO. After last year's fumble they're thirsty.
