His reasoning is solid though. Kante is a pure ballwinner but is also a good passer. Busquets a great passer who has been instrumental to Barca's passing game for a decade now.

We haven't even seen Kante fully unlocked yet IMO. He hasn't exactly played with great midfielders on any of his club teams.

Yeah, Kante is a freaking stud lol, don’t get me wrong.

I just think Busquets is better at the moment. Now in the next couple of years that will almost certainly change.

Other names to consider other than ones listed repetitively:

James Rodríguez
Eden Hazard
Sterling
Dembele
Gabriel Jesus
Isco
Kimmich
Neur
Rashford
Sane
Mane
Draxler

Most of these players obviously aren’t top 40 now but have high potential once the 2 top players are gone (outside of Neur).

I really like Isco but he's got to figure out a way to get into his side regularly.

Hazard has top 5 talent but just can't put it together consistently.

In 4 years I think it will look something like (in no particular order)
Kane
Neymar
Isco
Mbappe
Pogba
De Bruyne would be 30 so probably still up there
Will someone like Dybala continue to break out?

Kante will be 31 in 4 years so would expect a drop off in athleticism to possibly be a factor. Struggling to think of who the next young world class CBs will be, Varane? Stones? Sule?

Keepers are almost never included in these but Oblak, DDG, Allison will all be in their prime

He is a class player, but is nowhere near top 20, let alone top five.

One season? he had 19 goals his last season at Roma and 15 the year before that... those are very good returns for a wide forward... he has been progressing year after year for those paying attention... get your head out of your arse

I would honestly probably question someone’s knowledge on the sport if they chose Kante instead of Busquets to play the 6 at the moment.

But not all 6’s are the same

Bustiers is great at what he does and the system he plays in, and Kante is great at his job as well for his system

Why’s everything always gotta be so damn black and white and hyperbolic all the time

Well put

both are extremely dynamic players in vastly different ways
