As Ronaldo and Messi start tDecline, who does the soccer board think will be the best players of the next generation? Let’s say in 4 years.

For me it’s

Mbappe
Salah
Neymar
Kane
Pogba

In that order.

ETA - Mbappe

Are we just forgetting that a Salah was average his entire career before 17-18?

I’d easily put Griez and De Bruyne before Salah.

Salah isn’t top 50 if we are talking players and a five-year record of work.

Good God some of you are delusional.

Who said anything about a 5 year record of work?

You must have missed that part.

I probably should have put De Bruyne in there, he is pretty much top 5 right now.

OP is asking the top players in the world once Messi/GOATnaldo retire.

I have never met anyone who knows what their talking about put a sports player in the top 5 in the world of their respective sport off of one season.

If we did that then Januzaj would still be the chosen one, Marko Marin is still the future for Germany, Josh McEahran is the GOAT Chelsea academy player, etc...I could go on forever.

Salah is in the right system and was in form all season, avoided injury until the end and it would be delusional to expect the same production moving forward. It was the perfect storm for him and Liverpool.

He is a class player, but is nowhere near top 20, let alone top five.

In four years?

Marco Asensio. Should be the premiere player.

Germany may have one, Mbappé possibly, as well...

You are right. Salah is playing for the perfect manager, with the perfect players that will only get better especially next year in the midfield. But yes, Salah is the exact same player he was the previous 4 years in completely different systems for completely different managers. He hasn’t grown as a player at all and will regress under all of the existing positives that I just named. So as a Liverpool supporter there is nothing to see here and we will just be stuck with him until maybe somebody worth a shite can take that idiot Klopp’s place........And did somebody just say Dier??!!

It’s almost impossible to rank a top 5 outside of Messi/Ronaldo.

Defensive players or ones who don’t score/assist are undervalued in things like this.

Kante is a very good player. But someone like Busquets plays in the same areas as him, but IMO, he is much more influential in the side than Kante is. He’s the best pivot in the world. Kante isn’t really a pivot at all but fits in well to what Chelsea does.

I would honestly probably question someone’s knowledge on the sport if they chose Kante instead of Busquets to play the 6 at the moment.

Busquets is on the decline, he's simply very smart.
