I’m pretty disappointed in the transfer window tbh. After not signing anyone for two windows we really only bring in two players that can make an immediate impact (hopefully) in ndombele and lo celso. Sessegnon will be a work in progress, and jack Clarke is currently being outplayed by jack Harrison at Leeds.

Meanwhile, we sold trippier and haven’t brought in a replacement. There’s a possibility that Eriksen could still leave, or maybe even worse he stays, and then walks for free next summer. And then there’s still the chance that more people leave before other league windows shut.

At best I think this team managed to get slightly better than last year, and that’s only if Eriksen’s production stays, but I still don’t think it’s near enough to actually challenge Liverpool or City, and I think Arsenal had a nice window. at the end of the year I think we will be battling United for 4th place.

City
Liverpool

Arsenal
Tottenham
United

Chelsea

I think this was still a solid window but I agree with not getting a replacement RB I don't really understand that. Pochettino must really rate KWP or something. If any more defenders leave during the other league windows I'm gonna be pretty pissed.

Sessegnon looked really good for fulham the year before they were promoted I'm hoping Poch can work his magic and get him going and back to that form.

Agree with your league positioning but think we're still better than arsenal. Might just be my bias showing though

I generally agree that we didn't improve significantly (and still have a gaping hole at RB). If we can somehow get Eriksen to sign a new deal that might change my mind.

My biggest concern at this point is, due to timing, our new midfield won't be able to gel immediately. With 2 of our first 4 matches away at City and at Arsenal, afraid we may be out of the race before it even begins.

So many different ways we can go with this lineup. Here’s my uneducated guess as I’m not fully in soccer mode yet

Lloris
Serge - Jan - Toby - Rose
Ndombélé - Winks
Eriksen
Moura - Son
Kane

Sanchez/Wanyama/Sissoko/Dier/Lo Celso/Sessegnon/KWP/Parrott/Davies/Foyth

Not to mention Dele coming back in a month or so. Feel much better about the depth than last year. And as far as RB if Serge is 100% then I feel okay with it. Davies and Foyth are decent depth

Yeah I could easily see that too. I think both squads are evenly matched. The nega-fan in me just put arsenal above.

But yeah, I’d much rather our window than United’s. I bet they’re pretty pissed off, and I don’t blame them. My hot take: OGS is gone by Christmas.

Yeah I agree, the start of the season might be brutal. We have a lot more injuries than I realized, and Son is suspended for the first two games for those who might’ve forgotten.

I’m most concerned about KWP essentially just having to be thrown to the wolves. It looked like Pochettino preferred Foyth as his starting RB, though he didn’t come without question marks too, but having to rely on such a young inexperienced player like KWP to open the season is tough.

If we had signed a really talented RB, that could’ve started immediately, i would’ve felt pretty great about this transfer window.

haha well I guess it's better to be pleasantly surprised rather than build up expectations and be crushed with bitter disappointment.

Gonna be an interesting year

I'm gonna attempt a more positive take on this upcoming season although I agree with most of your concerns.

I think the addition of Ndombele and Lo Celso will be massive for the club regardless of what happens with Eriksen. Both players possess the ability to push the ball forward and take guys on to create opportunities which is something our midfield outside of Erikson has been lacking for a while. It's refreshing to see Tottenham spend pretty big chunks of money on elite guys that can immediately improve the squad and contribute right away.

My biggest concern at this point is right back, but I have to trust that Poch has a plan for that position. We sold Trippier weeks ago and even before his sale we weren't strongly connected with any replacement RB's.

It's gonna be hard to top Liverpool and City this year, but I'm not sure we were ever gonna make up that gap in one transfer window especially with City's ability to just pay 70 million release clauses and add guys like Cancelo at RB while already having Walker at the position.

All in all, I think our squad has improved and if we can stay healthy I like I chances to finish 3rd and make a serious run at silverware in all competitions next year.

to the first full season at N17.

I'm honestly not sure how I feel about the expectations on this season.

Really just ready to have something to look forward to on the weekends again. Just going to enjoy whatever this season throws at us

Good point about a full season at WHL. I went to wembley last year for the NLD and the atmosphere was garbage compared to a couple years earlier at old WHL.

This team made the CL finals last year, I don’t think it’s a stretch to think they will be able to compete at the highest level with these new additions and improved depth.

Also remember that Leroy Sane just got an ACL injury so the ManCity game is slightly less daunting for next weekend

We get at least 8 points through the first 4 games then we can very well go on a big roll vs Crystal Palace/Leicester/Southampton/Brighton/Watford

Ndombele - Winks
Lucas - Eriksen - Lamela

Subs: Gazza, Sanchez, Davies, Lo Celso, Sissoko, Wanyama, Dier, Parrott

Foyth, Alli and Sessegnon injured, Son suspended from Bournemouth disaster at end of last season

About right.
Wouldn't totally be surprised if KWP and Davies play instead.
Also, don't think Ndombele will go the full 90' for some reason.

I seem to remember Poch being a big fan of the diamond, so I wouldn’t be shocked to see Lo Celso replace Lamela and Lucas move up alongside Kane if we need a late goal or two.

Aurier, Toby, Jan, Rose
Winks
Ndombele, Lo Celso
Eriksen
Kane, Lucas

I’m not as familiar with the players as most of y’all so forgive me, but I keep seeing people projecting Winks starting as a lone CDM in a diamond or as 1 of 2 CDMs alongside Ndombele.

Would Sissoko not be a better option? He looked like one of the 3-4 most consistent guys in the team last year. I know he had a few subpar years before this last one but he really seemed to hold the midfield together.

Is CDM not his natural position or is Winks just a better player and I just don’t know what I’m talking about?

Maybe I’m wrong, but Winks just seems incredibly average to me.

***Disclaimer: last year was the first year I started really following Spurs. Can’t wait for this season!
