When you have a season like this season, even CL games sneak up on you. I had no idea we played today.

Today felt GOOD

You can only beat who’s in front of you.

Davies over Rose was so much more solid at the back, his runs are much better timed too.

Ndombele and Lamela balled out

Kane & Sonny were ruthless.

For the love of all things Holy, Poch, please stay with the 4-2-3-1

Granted it was a lesser opponent, but we’ve been out played by lesser opponents recently. It was so nice to see the backline stepping up and actually intercepting some passes, and for the midfield to create opportunities for the boys upfront. Haven’t seen any of that in a while.

They could have, and probably should have, scored 3-4 more goals. The chances were there. Ndombele is the best, and I’d love to see the guys pick him out whenever possible because he can deliver the choicest of balls. I’m not going to get my hopes up too much until we can see them string together more performances like that, but they haven’t played like that in forever.

Well we should know this weekend if we’ve solved our woes or not. Getting a draw would be a good result imho

Game thoughts:
Gazzaniga played out of his mind.

Too bad Sonny doesn’t finish that chance. 2-0 up and Liverpool would have really been chasing.

Tough penalty on Aurier but the right call. Funny how pool fans bitched about that same foul for the last two years that Van Dijk did on Lamela then completely changed their tune when the roles were reversed.

Speaking of Lamela we could have really used him today. Sucks he got hurt. I hope it’s not gonna be one of his classic hurt all season injuries.

Have to start getting points if we want a shot at top 4.

All i know is I don’t want to see Eriksen play for Tottenham ever again. frick him. He’s done well for us in the past, but he’s going out like a bitch. Would rather take the hits with players that still give a frick. I don’t even want to see him make the squad. Just hide him in some dark corner until you can sell him, or until he walks.

Totally agree, I don’t understand why he was even out there

I just don't see this happening this year. We have an important stretch with teams we should get 3 from and if we want top 4 we have to get them all.

Kane out today due to illness.

XI: Gazzaniga, Aurier, Alderweireld, Sanchez, Davies, Sissoko, Ndombele, Eriksen, Dele, Son, Lucas.

Bench: Vorm, Foyth, Dier, Sessegnon, Winks, Lo Celso, Parrott

Wish Lo Celso would be starting, I'm ready to see him play. Nice to finally see Sessegnon in the squad though. Lamela out with a hip/thigh injury.

Gomez injury really that bad? I mean I know it was bad but the reaction by some of the players was like he had his foot ripped off. Announcers made it seem like it too.
God I hope they never watch the Louisville b-ball player in the NCAA tourney from a few years ago. They will be scarred for life.

I get what you're trying to say, but yeah, it was terrible. His foot was over 90° from where it should've been.

Announced it was a fracture dislocation which has a recovery time of 12 weeks. I think these guys need to watch the Louisville and Prothro injury for perspective. Then some Joe Theisman knee for dessert.

No injury is a good one.
Especially when the player has to go under a knife. So stop trying to compare them.

And I'm sure this injury would be ×100 worse if it had happened in the 70s with the surgical methods used then.

Some injuries are worse than others. It’s not disrespectful to suggest it. Why is it necessary to overreact and act like it’s the most horrific injury ever witnessed (which is occuring as we speak on r/soccer).

True, but this is a bit knee-jerk.
I'm going to wait until Gomes is back playing before commenting on how bad the injury is.
