Another issue is that we have more than a few players that we rely on that have shown over an extended period of time that absolutely cannot stay on the pitch.

I bitched about the center backs already and was met with a flurry of downvotes

I have been screaming about center backs for a while now. It is getting to desperation time in regards to getting a solid #2.

Virgil being out can’t be helped, but if we expect to consistently challenge for titles moving forward we HAVE to have better depth all the way across the back line.

We just started 2 starting Midfielders as CB's in a PL match that we lost. The fact that Gomez and especially Matip cannot consistently stay on the pitch means you are correct to be concerned. I would say we need 2 CB's but I'll gladly take just 1 right now but Klopp might not feel the same way. IDK gents.

Klopp rightfully puts a lot of faith in our younger players, but they aren’t ready to be relied on and we have found that out the hard way.

He has been forced into a corner and we are witnessing his frustration and the (rotten) fruits of the lack of experienced depth. Hopefully that spurns FSG into letting him spend a bit more on the back line.

Man, normally I'm the crazy illogical pessimist. Some of you guys need to get a grip.

Here we are losing the best CB in the world, along with our #2 and some other injuries there to boot, sitting atop the table.

Boo freaking hoo.

If you were expecting to win the title 2 years in a row, you need to get a grip. It's going to be a long season and best to level set and realize how hard going back to back was going to be.

They're clearly operating with tight pockets as a result of Covid. The league may shut down again any day.

Everyone just needs to chill.

Was Rhys or Phillips available for the game? Curious why we went with Henderson as the CB. Feel like the youngsters have played equally important games and done well. Not that Henderson didn’t do well, but he seems more useful up the pitch.

I do think that we should probably attempt to get another CB since I believe we can win England and/or Europe this year. I do not think Matip can stay healthy and we seem to not trust our young CB's. I'm not really sure what is wrong with wanting to strengthen an obvious weakness when trophies are within reach?

I’m not being sensational. None of us are. We are commenting on what the weakness of this team has been for a long while now, and that is quality depth at the back.

We’re not simple. We understand we are at the top of the table.

However, we also understand that our squad is really fricking good... UNTIL we have a back line injury. Then it is all of a sudden musical center backs or “Musical Millie”.

We lost 0-1....we have an issue breaking down organized defenses. I guess we have become predictable going forward.
I'm frankly too much a knob to know the answer

I just find it odd that we're bitching about back line depth when lost 0-1 and had exactly one shot on target

Remind me, didn't we just beat a team 7-0?

Which team was that again?

Top of the table, first in our group, just beat the vaunted Woy Hodgson Wall 7-0 but "figured out".

They're just bored because we have been so good, so financially prudent and they have literally nothing else to complain about.

Has Klopp signed a single "bust" piece of business?

Villa has to use all youth team vs us in the FA Cup game this weekend due to covid outbreak. No first team starters.

Plenty of great stories in the recruitment. Mo, Sadio, Virgil, Robbo, Gomez were all steals, despite the latters inability to stay healthy.

To answer your question though, Ox and Naby don’t really have the stats to fit the price tag. Both have been key at times and both are great when fit. Neither are routinely fit.

We came into the season with 3 senior center backs and two of them get hurt every year. I think we should’ve signed one in the summer and think we should sign one in January. Where we are in the table doesn’t change that. We aren’t going to win the league or anything else with Hendo and Fabs playing CB. Of course it’s hard to repeat. I’m not dense. I also think it’s a weak and odd mentality to just say who cares, it was going to be hard to repeat anyway. Not really the white flag type. We have a realistic chance at repeating if we have more depth at CB. We don’t without it. Lulls are going to happen with strikers. They’re all class, they’ll snap out of it. Doesn’t matter if we’re starting two midfielders at CB
