Hummels is 3rd choice at Bayern right now. I'd probably start there. He isn't a brick wall defensively but he's one of the few in the world close to Virg with the ball at his feet. He understands Klopp's system. With Sule and Boateng I would think they may even be open to a permanent sale

Thomas Muller will miss both legs against us... UEFA added an extra game to the one-game ban for his red card against Ajax

Joel Matip and Jordan Henderson are both in the squad to face Brighton today. (@JamesPearceEcho)

Matip at least making the bench makes me feel better... Probably about the starting XI o expected all things considered

Would love to see Keïta get some meaningful playing time after a quick 3-0 start.

I was expecting more Keita instead of Hendo backlash..

I like it, all things considered.
I’d like to see Keita get a run in a midfield two in these next few weeks as we play some weaker sides, maybe in a home game next to Fabinho though. But I still think he’s better in a 3 man midfield so I understand wanting to play Henderson next to Wijnaldum since he’s fit apparently

I’m cool with Hendo over Keita so he can be a defensive cover for Fab at cb

But he excelled in a 2 man midfield at RBL...
Anyway, he looked like shite against Wolves, so I'm not surprised Hendo starts..
I haven't lost faith in him, Ive seen his quality too much over the previous two seasons.. I just think his niggling injuries, crowded midfield, playing as a winger at times and our successful first half of the season have all played a part in his limited minutes... I have no doubts he will eventually make his way into the regular starting 11.. though we may have to wait until next season to see that..

I thought he looked his best when he was played more advanced for RBL
Just my opinion, but he just doesn’t look like he covers as much ground as our other midfielders and while he definitely does still track back, I think he’s looked better when he can play more free going forward

He didnt just sit and protect the back 4, he did get forward... but they played a lot of 4222... Fabinho played in a double pivot, as well..
Those two signings, over the summer, make a lot more sense when you see us moving a lot to the 4231.. not saying that they cant play in a 3 man mf.. and we cant be flexible.. just saying that perhaps the writing was on the wall early on to a formation switch..

I just seem to remember some of his more memorable performances last year like against Bayern when he played right behind Werner and was more of a playmaker when Forsberg was out
Posted on 1/12/19 at 8:43 am to TheZaba
Im not saying he never played there, but his primary role the past two seasons were as part of the 2 CMs..

I mean 4231 was Klopp's preferred at Dortmund no?
Also, worried about TAA, exactly like we mentioned, losing Clyne gives us no full back depth on that side

yeah, we just really haven't seen it much until this season at LFC..
yeah - I didnt see the need to rush him out on loan..

No I know, but I'm not surprised he started trending back to that.
I will say in the first 15 minutes, we've had some sloppy passing, but do look like we have some teeth going forward which we haven't been able to say in matches like this in previous years

Its pretty obvious TAA is gimpy so why in the heck isnt Klopp subbing him out?
Posted on 1/12/19 at 9:41 am to pvilleguru
I get why Klopp went with this midfield 2 but they’re being way too passive right now. Keita or Milner needs to come on
