I still contend we need..
DM
Backup Striker
Backup Wide Forward
Creative CM
Starting RCB/or someone to push for it
GK (the level of which depends on LK's development)
I think it will be a mix of Marquee signing/breakout type/youth..
Some under the radar players we've been linked with...
I'd be all over Lascelles, especially if NUFC get relegated..
Been linked recently with James Maddison at Norwich... Creative CM.. He looks like he could be special..
Alban Lafont at Toulouse (only if LK looks like he up for it)... This could also be WC in a couple of years.. though I don't think we've been linked with him

I would be ok with Ward as a back-up if Karius keeps performing the way he has. I have been especially pleased with how Karius has started coming off his line for crosses, etc. When he first got here, it was mentioned that he liked to stay back for the crosses. So to me, that means he's been working on his game to adapt to England.
One of my favorite parts of the Porto match was when he aggressively came out for VVD's head.

Is John Barnes drunk?

“The front three are great, but I don’t feel that they are necessarily going to continue to do this for the next two or three years.
“Salah is not a centre forward, I don’t think he is a player who can score goals consistently over a period of time. We don’t have players like that.
“We have players like Salah and Mane and, although Mane scored a hat-trick against Porto, they are not out-and-out goalscorers.
“So, as funny as it may seem, I think if they could get a centre forward, a penalty box player and play Firmino slightly deeper, I think it will be better for the balance of the team.
“Yes, we’re scoring lots of goals but can we see Mane and Salah continuing to score this amount of goals on a regular basis?"

If we keep Salah during the summer with no impending January transfer I will be happy with the off season-- we need support players and depth. The frontline players are great and Keita will add to this. The future is bright I think there is a plan. We are not blindsided by Can's departure so I trust the process. I have faith in Jurgen.

you'll really love the piece in the echo this morning that says "once the goals dry up, is salah really up to much".

Holy shite, at this point in the season Salah is one of the hardest workers on defense on the pitch.
Is that piece fo' real?
Admittedly, earlier in the season he was not. But he also had not worked with Klopp for very long then either. He's only been getting BETTER, both offensively and defensively, as the season has gotten older.
P.S. Same can apply to Mane except he's had his struggles off and on on offense. But he's been consistent defensively from Day One. And there has never been any question about Bobby.

Salah had really good numbers at Roma last season...
I mean, He very well may be having a career year and his numbers may come back down to earth a bit next season... but there is nothing to believe that he is a one season wonder... he's been growing each year he's played...

And by adding Naby Keita, a superb creator, in the midfield next season, is the frontline really going to get worse?
Now don't get me wrong, stuff happens and I guess it actually could. Surprising and unusual stuff you don't expect happens all the time.
But from a rational perspective I just can't believe that it will.

No matter who has been at Anfield as player or manager scoring goals hasn’t been our problem for quite some time now.

For your interesting stat of the day

Liverpool have scored more goals in 9 champions league games this season than Everton have in 27 premier league games.

So, Lazio have confirmed they are withdrawing their contract offer and Stefan De Vrij will leave on a Bosman this summer...
I hope we are all over this... excellent partner for VVD and helps offset the cost of his transfer... He's easily a £30mm + CB in today's market..

Read on goal.com that Inter is in the driver's seat for Lazio.

And since I've only been following football and Liverpool specifically for going on my 5th season now, how come when Liverpool loses a game to a team like Wolverhampton (a Championship team, by the way) in the FA Cup last year using a lineup of mostly bench players, the football media is united as one in their shock and indignation and signaling portents of coming doom for Liverpool?
But when the ManCs lose to League One Wigan in the FA Cup using a lineup containing Aguero and Silva and Sane and Stones, its merely a "shocking upset" and only because of REASONS (i.e. shocking red card!) and oh well, *yawn*, these things happen.
BTW, I was merely curious so I went out and looked at Wolverhampton. If they keep up their form this season, they could well be playing in the EPL next year.

F that... they have Škriniar and Miranda...
We need to convince him that he needs to come start at RCB next to his countrymen... We can surely pay better than Inter..
Get on it Edwards...

He's a bit susceptible to injury, right?
Not saying we shouldn't do it, but jump in eyes wide open.
If he's coming on a free it does make it easier to take the risk.

Wolverhampton would be a mid table premiere league side this season.

Because of the Man City and United apologists. If they lose, it's "shocking". I feel like most sports pundits are living in the past with each teams reputation.

Liverpool U19's 2-0 over ManU U19's in the UEFA Champions League U19 tourney.

quote:Pretty much my feelings. CB is down the list for me right now though on needs. I’d prefer us address midfield most of all, and then probably GK and some attacking options.
