Liverpool have one more point this season after 23 fixtures than we did last season.

This is the point last season where Liverpool hit the skids for about 6 weeks, after another Coutinho injury (if memory serves... and maybe Lallana too?) and a busy holiday fixture list.

This year? Overall healthier, fresher, and much better depth.

The skids ain't happening this season, IMO. Prepare to move up the table!

I hope so, would love to see a 2nd place finish this year (because city is winning the league and there's no point arguing)

From Joyce’s article about Mignolet having to consider his future
quote:

Klopp will buy a goalkeeper in the summer with Roma’s Alisson a target, although negotiations on a fee could prove difficult given Liverpool recruited Mohamed Salah for an initial £36.9 million from the Italians. That has been shown to be a bargain following the Egyptian’s form and Roma will not want to lose another player on the cheap. The Brazil goalkeeper Alisson, who does not have a buy-out clause and is valued at around £44 million, is aware his reputation is soaring and said a decision on his future would be made after the World Cup. “I am happy in Rome,” he said. “It’s always a pleasure to feel that lots of people are monitoring you but my head is focused on Roma. I leave my future in the hands of God. In June, maybe we will speak about it again but for now I am concentrated on Roma.” Atletico Madrid’s Jan Oblak is another potential candidate, although the Slovenian has a €100 million (about £89 million) buy-out clause.
Nothing really groundbreaking, but confirmation at least from a reliable source.

I know Oblak’s still pretty young and phenomenal but that would be ridiculous money on a keeper. At the same time, if Allisson shows out at the World Cup, his price will only get steeper too

Is he def. Brazils numero uno?

Been too long since we've had a top shelf keeper in Pepe. If we're serious about winning trophies in Europe, we need one.

Well he has been but I think with the way Ederson’s been playing it’s very possible he gets jumped even though Allisson’s had a solid year

From what I understand, the only thing Ederson clearly excels at over Alisson is his distribution... In reading some Brazil accounts Tite still favors Alisson as the #1

I know Arsenal have been strongly linked most recently, but interesting quotes from the Bourdeaux manager on Malcom..

quote:

“I can’t deny that he’s being followed by a lot of people,” Gourvennec reportedly said. “With Malcom, I go from day-to-day.

“He’s committed. He’s a bit like he was in the summer - I wouldn’t say he has been disturbed by it, that’s a bit strong, he’s not disturbed, but he is asking questions.

“He’s asking himself what’s the best thing for him, for his future. That’s logical. If he’s asking questions and he still manages to make assists or score goals, it’ll be fine.

“If Liverpool want you to work for them tomorrow, you’d go.

I’m really starting to fear that no one else is coming in this window. We’re fricked if we don’t sign another attacker or two. Chamberlain, Sturridge, and Solanke are our current options for depth up top. That is a massive drop off and not enough to compete on 3 fronts. Klopp needs to pull out all the stops to get a quality attacker in January. Forget this “waiting on the right guy.” We have a team that can make a run at winning the champions league and we showed that against city, but if you remove one piece from the front 3 it doesn’t work.

Are we even in on anyone from an attacking standpoint?

Seems like we're out on Sanchez, can't find anyone else.

We have to be, right? Even if it hasn’t leaked I just can’t see Klopp being content with what we have. Not optimistic on bringing anyone in but he’s got to be trying

Arsenal looking at Aeybeywayng (dortmund striker) for 55M.

Feel like that would be some good business? Why aren't we in on him? Wasn't he being quoted at like 100m + recently?

55 seems like a bargain.

It seems like many clubs over the past year have stayed away from him.. many that needed a striker too...

May be nothing, but makes you wonder..

He is getting close to 30 and I think once that pace goes, he wont offer much... But it looks like he has a couple of more years left at least..

just playing a little devil's advocate to your question..

PEA scores a lot of goals at BvB but he misses more sitters than Salah. His game is strictly based on his speed and while he’s got amazing speed, he’s 28 and you have to figure his legs will diminish sooner rather than later. Bobby is a better fit at #9 under Klopp and 55mm is a lot of money to drop on a squad player. If we’re dropping that kind of cash I’d like to see it go towards a guy that immediately steps into the starting 11 or an up and comer like Pulisic, Lemar, Malcolm, etc. Just my opinion, but I think his best days are behind him and don’t think he’s a better player than Bobby right now.
