It's going to hit me hard when this World Cup finishes. I still remember that punk so-cal kid just wreaking havoc against Portugal and Mexico in 2002. It was in that World Cup that I really started following soccer so Landy has been a real integral part in that.
Think what you want about his career choices and attitude, he will go down as the best player that US Soccer has ever produced, by far.

He went there at 27, almost 28, the first time.
What would have happened if he had stayed at Everton? Probably nothing. His development was already finished by that age. It might have actually caused more wear and tear on his body.
