I used to not be a fan. I wasn't really against soccer or any BS, but I didn't keep up with it. This World Cup completely changed that and I am really proud of how our team and fans represented down there. Optimistic about the future.

Thanks to everyone who contributed to threads explaining soccer to the newbies.

Now....who do I want to win it all?

I will be rooting for France, Colombia, and Belgium based on nothing but their play in this tournament.

I always watch the World Cup, but after the U.S. is eliminated I don't watch the rest of the games.

I don't care at all about the professional leagues.

I will watch the U.S. Women's Team during the World Cup and the Olympics, but not outside of that.

Same here. I watched quite a bit and learned quite a bit from Bob Ley and his cohorts and the soccer gurus on this board. I'll try to watch some more of the remaining matches.

And if I every run into Tim Howard in a bar, I'll pick up the tab.

Glad to see there are several converts! I will be cheering for Costa Rica (CONCACAF!!!), Netherlands, and Brazil.

Is there any reason why I shouldn't root for Deutschland?

None at all, really. Unless you want to hold 2002 against them. ;)

Let's see...they play France - CHECK
If they beat France, they play Brazil - CHECK
If they go to the finals, they likely play either Argentina or Netherlands - Not sure

Agreed. Between this run and MLS coming to Atlanta in 2017 I really have a new appreciation for the sport.

Soccer is great at 7 AM on Saturdays and Sundays in the fall.

My little slice of heaven is getting up early on Sunday mornings, brewing a cup of coffee and half-watching / half slumbering through some EPL.

You're saying this now, but you're not going to b a soccer fan. You liked that America was playing, but that's going to be the extent of your like of soccer.

3 am? Do I look like I'm on the JV, bruh?

Actually if I am in bed by 11 PM on a Friday, I am guaranteed to not get out of bed until 11 AM.

Unless Chelsea is playing (and sometimes even when they are), I stir a bit when the announcers or crowd makes a racket.
