Thanks to 1/2 Germany, if they make it obvious, they get banned

Because we'd both be banned.

Just don't make it stupidly obvious.

You guys are totally right on the Germany draw.

Let me hit the German ambassador up on myspace and see if I can work something out.

Anyone know why head to head doesnt matter? It seems like if we lose to Germany and Ghana beats Portugal we could be tied on 4 points and Ghana could go through instead of us even though we beat them.

It's lower on the tiebreaking totem pole.

Why? Because they don't want a one-off to "ruin" a tournament.

once again, just like every other sport head to head does not count when multiple teams are involved.

Maybe the US-Germany could just pass the whole game and just to the other two teams

Talking about 2 teams in a tie. Not 4.

Repeating myself from earlier in the thread.

Advancing is more about how you did in all three matches in your group and using a tiebreaker that is solely dependent on the results of one match isn't as good an indicator as a team's goal differential or total goals scored which are more indicative of how a team performed in their group as a whole.

Obviously the best thing for us is a Portugal-Ghana draw, but next best is a Portugal win because of their worse goal difference. Hard to be a Portugal fan after tonight, but I do NOT want Ghana messing things up for us.

1982 all over again

we'll have fans burning the US and German flags in the stands

but as the final qualifying match vs. Panama showed us... JK has no interest in just settling for the minimum of what does us best

Ok. 1 match can still make or break you no matter what. The scenarios of going through from this point favor Germany and make Portugal longshots based off 1 match.

If we would have lost to Portugal tonight and both us and them draw our last game then we both finish on 4 points with us going through instead of them. Even looking at it in a positive for us it would still be unfair to them.
