That's kinda ridiculous. The mexico player should have gotten a yellow for what he did, at the very least. You can't intentionally obstruct a player, and it's even worse when you are blocking him from a potential goal scoring opportunity.

He wasn’t intentionally trying to hit his face. Just wanted to get around him.

And now those two are out next match (or is it two can't remember?)

South Africa may end up being the worst team at this WC

Can’t slap someone in the face. Wasn’t part of any natural movement.

I really don’t think he tried to slap him in the face. The Mexican player screened him and bent down.

Just the one additional match. Mexico should try to run up the goal tally now.

Yes I saw the replay. Maybe it wasn’t an intentional hit to the face. 50/50 call. Probably could withhold the red in that case.

But it did look like he was past him then added the shot to the face to me.

The Ref Cam view was pretty definitive for me. Correct decision.

Now that was a red card. Great call.

And then Sampaio makes an interesting decision on a third red card. I get why Clattenburg thinks it’s a red; I’m not so sure.

ETA: I saw a replay of it from a different angle and Wilton got it spot on. Definitely DOGSO and a red.

3 red cards in this game

Mexico needs to watch out in the future, they didn't win this game as much as SA lost it. Not going to get easier than this. They could have won 4 or 5 nil and almost locked up knockout round spot.

I'm glad we expanded the WC field so we can watch more of these types of games

Landon is such a retard. I hate him calling a game.

How the hell are you one on one in extra time up 2 men? Ridiculous.

He had a goal scoring opportunity - a one on one with the keeper, had he not been fouled. This is without question a red card.

It was borderline by DOGSO rules but I like the red card there. Give me rule interpretations favoring goal scoring all day every day.
