Solid, typically organized and capable of mounting a serious counter.
Is this not this country´s DNA?
Some people act like a few up and comers with technical potential are going to make this an overbearing world powerhouse side overnight.
It takes time. Granted, how that time is being spent is the crux of much debate, but still, the expectations many harbor on this site are very far fetched.
You expect to win every match (and do not hope to).
Temperance, boys, temperance.
Anyway, this is what I hear, and want to know what you soccer gurus think.

The issue is we are behind schedule what was promised.
It will be interesting to see if all this concussion stuff with football translates to more us kids in soccer as their primary sport.

A world powerhouse? Nah.
The best in CONCACAF? A regional powerhouse? I think that fits expectations more.

The frustration is with the difference in what was promised versus what was delivered, along with perceived managerial deficiencies.
Most on here are aware that turning US soccer into a world powerhouse (like Spain) is not an overnight process. Spain, France, England, Brazil... These countries have been playing the sport religiously for around a hundred years or more. People here in the states do sometimes have unfair expectations for a rapid rise to world prominence, but most on the SB "get it," I think.

This is an American cultural belief. We always want to win... Being the best is what Americans strive for.
With that said, no one expects the US to best Spain, Brazil, France, etc. with any consistency right now. We want to see consistent improvement and we have been all over the places lately.

I think most on here know it's going to take baby steps for the USMNT to be a team that can go deeper in the World Cup than ever before, but impatience grows, especially when you see regression.
It also doesn't help that Jurgen does stuff that makes no sense and then basically calls American soccer fans idiots for criticizing him.
ETA: Did anyone else listen to MIB last week? I caught up on it today, and Rog's talk of how Iceland built up its youth pipeline made me so jealous. I wish the USSF would take some similar steps.

I got to see a World Cup qualifier in Iceland in 2013. They lost to Slovenia unfortunately, but my god was Guðjohnsen fun to watch. He was clearly their best player. Didn't start that game but probably should have. The people I was sitting with were good friends with iceland's starting goal keeper. It's a small place
