The US Men's defense is poor, after watching the women

Their back line is like swiss cheese compared to the beasts that were on the women's team.

Stop comparing the two. Not one person does it with basketball. It is the same difference in play.

The USWNT defense is the equivalent of Chelsea's defense, if not better. If the USMNT had Terry, Ivanovic, Cahill, Courtois, and Azpilicueta, they would be a brick wall too.

ETA: This thread is a bit silly. The USWNT is the best women's team in the world. The USMNT is obviously not the best men's team in the world. It stands to reason that comparing any aspect of the men's team to the women's team in a "who is better compared to their competition?" will go this way.

He's good but come on. Our backline has mental lapses in every game where they get caught out in la la land. Najar beat Alvarado on skill last night...huntelaar breezed through unmarked a few weeks ago. That's a mental lapse. I cringe everytime I see a cross go into the box

We also change up our back line almost every game in one way or another. I would like to see Jurgy find a backline he's comfortable with and stick with them to build unity.

Alvarado and Brooks both had some horrid moments last night, they also had a few really solid moments. Jurgen decided to pick talent over experience, and, for me, center half is a position where experience and guile mostly trumps talent and athleticism.

Zardes has been dynamic for us. He and Fabian are still figuring things out, but Gyasi has definitely been good on the left. Why are you so insistent he should play?

Yep, he had a few positional break downs last night, but he showed a load of pace and some willingness to run at a defense. He also did the dirty work and stayed back when Fabian made runs forward.
He settled in and showed his worth as the game dragged on.
