The Spurs' Young Talent is Amazing

there is finally some payoff from the Bale signings and it's pretty stunning
Erickson was once the super cool prospect with great hair that Arsenal was targeting, then there were questions about his potential (i think physicality issues were the most common). He's developed into a fricking badass attacking/distributing mid
Lamela is finally coming along somewhat. i felt bad when he had issues adjusting and he had to deal with a lot of hate because of that. he still has superstar potential (but he's going to likely fall way short of that)
Kane = Khan from Star Treck 2. making opponents flip out every week
curious to see what Ali does over the next 2-3 years. he may be a flash in the pan

nothing about being the best young English x removes the issue of him being a possible flash in the pan
England's soccer history over the past 20 years has been one young superstar in waiting (who never delivers the goods) after another

They bought remarkably poorly from the Bale money. Kane was developed in house as well. They are doing well because Pochettino stresses defensive discipline and solidity. It's the same reason why Southampton looked so good under him. If you don't have your spacing right, you can't dictate play to the opposition. Lord knows we've seen a first hand example of what happens when players don't know how far they should be from one another and how to press under Klinsmann.
It actually amazes me that Arsenal do as well as they do considering how utterly poor the defensive shape is most of the time.
Seeing the rise of Leicester and Tottenham, I wonder if we are going to see the return of fast-paced counter-attacking football that was so popular just before WC 2006 return. Bayern sort of perfected it in 2012, and could have been one of the greatest teams ever (over multiple seasons) if they stayed with Heynckes.
It actually amazes me that Arsenal do as well as they do considering how utterly poor the defensive shape is most of the time.
Seeing the rise of Leicester and Tottenham, I wonder if we are going to see the return of fast-paced counter-attacking football that was so popular just before WC 2006 return. Bayern sort of perfected it in 2012, and could have been one of the greatest teams ever (over multiple seasons) if they stayed with Heynckes.

I believe that under the right coach, a coach like Pochettino, they could be a top 10 team in world football. It kills me how regressive Hodgson is. It is super hard to get spacing and defensive pressure right in international football, but it should be what the English stress. Instead it is this half-assed in-between game where they aren't particularly defensively solid and aren't exciting going forward either.

Agree. Liverpool will probably eventually become a counter attacking monster under Klopp though.

That still won't prevent him from being run into the ground. Wilshere was destroyed as a 18 year old and his body never recovered. Joe Cole had his problems from playing too much too early. Rooney was a physical monster at 18 years old, and that he got consistent play up until he was 29/30 is a testament to how good he was. Alli looks like a Pogba-lite, so his body can probably take more punishment, but playing players so young so often always has its massive risks.

Well that won't really get fixed until the British FA wises up and fixes the scheduling issues. Premier League needs a winter break and needs to get rid of one their bullshite cups.

Do you call Manchester United "the United" for short? Or how about their Manchester cohorts...do you refer to them as "the City?" "Spurs" is the same category as it's a truncation of their proper name. Nicknames like "the Gunners," "the Toffees," "the Magpies," and "the Lilywhites" all use articles. It has nothing to do with being an American but everything to do with being ignorant.

I really like alli. He's going to get a lot stronger as well as he matures physically. I think spurs have a huge future ahead if they can keep MP around.
