Do you call Manchester United "the United" for short?
you mean "The Red Devils"? and yes, i would, if i used their mascot. i usually say Manure

Nicknames like "the Gunners," "the Toffees," "the Magpies," and "the Lilly Whites" all use articles.
the Spurs fits right in

God next year, in the EPL we are going to see Conte, Klopp, Guardiola, and probably Mourinho. I hope the tactics improve because this year the league as a whole has been poor. There is going to be lots of tactical variation as well. It'd be nice if England became the place where there was a showcase of all the different styles of playing, because lord knows the native English style is usually trash.

Same could be said for Michael Owen... he was played way too much as a kid.. body gave out on him..
Another classic case. I know there are many more I'm forgetting.

Gotta let these guys do their own thing though. Way too many Jerry Joneses in the EPL and not enough Peter Holts. You hired a great guy, let him do his thing. Let him choose his players and give him time and job security so he can feel comfortable playing young talent and being tactically experimental.

Well the market is fricked now because the damn Chinese. Prices for average players will rise, and if anything makes this house of cards fall, as in investors realizing the potential brand revenue from a football team is not worth the yearly expenditures, it's going to be a steep drop for lots of clubs. That said, I want a sugar daddy (for my team. Not, uhh, for me.). I hate Kroenke's Midwestern Protestant ethic.

I think FSG will let Klopp do what he wants, with job security, as well..
I am excited for next season... looking forward to see who he brings in..
What re your thoughts on the Gotze rumors... not exactly a huge need area, but I'd love him at Anfield..

what EPL team is going to buy James?
Bale may be going back, too
and one of messi, suarez, or neymar is allegedly leaving (although i imagine neymar to PSG is the most likely move) b/c of wage issues

Yeah. Among other players like Barkely, Rodwell, and a slew of others.

No way Bale leaves. And I'd imagine James goes to City or United if not PSG. Isco could leave too.

Mario is still a really good player and playing for Klopp may be what he needs. I don't think he is performing poorly. Just who are you going to sit? Thiago, Muller, Costa, Coman, Ribery, Robben?

This is why I've talked myself into being kind of afraid of Mourinho. United need to give time to someone and realize that they've got a ways to go before they can compete for the UCL or even the EPL consistently again. There's young talent there (one of the only positives from the LvG reign), it just needs to grow and develop like Spurs and Liverpool are doing with Poch and Klopp.
I'm afraid Mou is going to be too much of a quick fix for what United truly need. They need a manager who has worked well with building up teams into contention and then let him cook. Whenever Mou eventually leaves, they could be back at square one again.

if zidane is their manager, isco and james are OUT
they're not 4-3-3 guys and have 'tude issues

Ancelotti is coming next year, so unless he doesn't think Gotze can play his style, I don't think he should leave until the winter window at the minimum.
Someone needs to buy Mkhitaryan. He's been insanely productive.

I mean, has the stock price taken a hit to the degree that they need to make this move? It would be a massively successful short term solution, but long term it could keep them in the same place.

Agreed.

I have a hard time following what the powers that be are doing there.

I can't see a midfield of Kroos, Modric, and Casemiro working. It is too passive moving the ball forward, from what I've seen. They need one of James or Isco to link the play.

another "bust" who made good under a new manager (to continue theme of OP)

i assume they buy somebody who fits into what zidane wants
james is basically a 2nd striker and has been a dick when he isn't allowed to do that
i hear they're shipping out benzema too, if they can get somebody like lukaku
