Spain's academies still are probably the best around, but its not good for the league to lose guys like Martinez, Llorente, Cazorla, etc every year.

No doubt. The problem (as the article stated) is that those academy players aren't breaking through at the top 2 clubs. They are being moved on. And the TV revenue from the smaller clubs is so little that they are more willing to cash in on their players (Javi).
Mata, Cazorla, Silva, Javi (soon to be), Llorente (if the rumors are to be believed), Aguero, De Gea, Toure, etc.
Sidenote...Guti: best passer ever? I haven't heard his name in a while. Dude was unreal. Too bad he was nuts.

Bundesliga is kicking some arse right now as far as attendance is concerned.

the league has made an effort to keep ticket prices down as opposed to the higher ticket prices in the epl to make sure fans can still afford them, after all basically all the teams are majority fan owned. it does hurt the teams a little in terms of revenue, but the league is obviously not hurting that much

If German ticket prices are just 75.6% of EPL ticket prices, then they're bringing in the same amount of revenue.

the average ticket in the bundesliga 10/11 season was 22 euros. the cheapest seat in most epl stadiums is a little more than that

Bundesliga stadiums are bigger on average too. Just guessing, but I think that's accurate.

Schalke, Leverkusen, Dortmund, Bremen, Stuttgart.
There are quite a few big, succesful clubs in the Bundesliga. It's lost on the casual fan, because they're not as prevelant on American TV sets.

I have to say that I agreed with just about everything in the article.
The current economic climate certainly helps Germany. He hinted at it, but I think he could have expanded on that a bit more.

On a European level nobody really. Someone might make an odd CL run like Schalke a couple of years back but outside of Bayern there are no true European powers.
