The difference in tactics and mentality from Spain vs. England when they went 1-0 up is incredibly stark.

You can't park the bus up 1-0 in a knockout game against a quality opponent. You're not only conceding all the possession and shot opportunities, but you're setting yourself up for failure in extra time and PKs in the case of an equalizer.

Just dumb.

The U.S. thought the same until it went up against a team that could do both in Belgium and lost their arse.

U.S. looked likely to equalize in the second half with tactical adjustments until Freese went full retard.

Depends on how you’re built. England isn’t built to keep possession like that. They simply don’t have the personnel
