Was it a similar situation to our Alexis one? Schalke rather keep him during his final contract year than sell him?

Not too sure but Schalke also let Matip go on a free the season before and are letting Goretzka go for free after this season. Maybe it's the way they do business.

Playing City and Bama in the same weekend kinda scares the crap outta me.

I'm just excited that I can reasonably expect decent games. In the middle of September, I would probably have preferred some sort of mass electrical outage for this weekend.

I'm glad to see Debuchy getting more minutes at CB.
Love the front three, but idk why Iwobi isn't even in the squad?

I like the lineup. Winning the first 3 games earned Arsene the right to throw out a completely turned over squad to see if they can lock up the group. I wonder how Giroud feels when he is on the field with these guys. I wonder if it's like a varsity player starting in a JV game.

yeah it’s crazy because I believe he’ll be deschamps starting target striker and could be playing somewhere regularly but the dude loves Arsenal and loves London.

Disclaimer: This post has no factual backing.

I could see it being a life after soccer career move. The guy has model looks and a long life after soccer to look forward to. Maybe, being a squad player on a big team in London will work out better for him in the long run than disappearing for a few years at a lower level club outside of London.

It's because he is super loyal to Wenger. Arsene gave him his shot at a "big" club. When Giroud first got here Wenger had him as the starting striker when it was clear we needed better. He kept faith in Giroud. Giroud is a much better player now than when he first got here. His finishing is much more consistent. I guess he figures he owed Arsene. Also Giroud nearly moved to Everton but his wife didn't want to move.

Coquelin is so limited with the ball.

What a save by Macey!

Debuchy getting minutes is good. Still don't understand how anyone on this staff can watch our defense in training and think it was even a remotely good idea to let Gabriel go.

And in some sad news. Santi is done, saw the picture of his ankle. So sad. I know it's not set in stone, but guy almost lost his foot to the infection.

The skin graph on his ankle with the tattoo from his arm is pretty cool in a really weird way.
