I actually had no clue how far KC and STL were

Thought it was like 40 miles

Easy drive though, just I-70 across the state. This is great for KC and Chicago. Needed some real rivalries in the middle part of the country/league.

St. Louis joins MLS as the No. 21 media market in the United States. The five larger media markets without an MLS team:

11. Tampa/St. Pete
12. Phoenix
14. Detroit
19. Cleveland/Akron
20. Sacramento

Florida Cali and Ohio already have 2 or more teams
No way they’d put a 3rd in either of those

I am shocked about Phoenix though

They’ll be next ?

Nashville SC will likely have to play in the west next year so more teams west of us are a good thing.

I've already look at flights to Phoenix some lately since if we make it to the finals we will likely have to travel there.

Where’s the stadium?
I went there for the Final four.
It was an OK city.
Everything shut down pretty early

And the final four was played in Glendale which was a 30 minute Uber ride from where we stayed in the city

Scottsdale. Looks like it's just off the Red Mountain Freeway. Hopefully the team would help out with any transportation.

Only 8 more to go until my dream of 36 is brought to fruition.

And maybe kick put the Canadian teams to make it 36 U.S. teams.

I am still shocked about Phoenix, though.

Phoenix is for sure getting an MLS team unless their bid completely falls apart. It’s an absolute no-brainer to have a team there. Soon Phoenix will be a top 10 US market where all the other pro teams are mediocre or awful. MLS 100% wants a team there.

The only holdup for Phoenix seems to be a stadium. MLS is demanding an indoor stadium for Phoenix and Vegas if they want a team. I think the Phoenix bid is waiting to see what the Diamondbacks do with Chase Field, as the lease ends in 2022. If the D-backs move out, don’t be surprised if an MLS team moves in, renovates it for soccer, and plays there.

I’m guessing Sacramento and Charlotte will be the next two teams, but who knows? All reports are saying Sacramento is finalizing their process, but they’ve been on the cusp for so long, I won’t believe it until it’s officially announced. Charlotte getting a team pretty much just depends on if MLS is cool with using Bank of America Stadium. If they are, Charlotte could be kicking off as soon as 2021. If not, it could require a new stadium being built, which David Tepper is planning anyways.
