So the futsal place in town shut its doors for good.

Such a damn shame. I know they had a lot of youth camps and leagues there and it sucks that young players will no longer get to experience and learn from such an awesome game. I loved playing pickup there as well and I learned a lot in the 9 months it was open (had never played real futsal before that).
I think it says a lot our soccer culture that the only futsal facility in town can't stay open, while the wall-ball (which I do love and play) place is raking in money hand over fist with leagues every night of the week. Thoughts?

"regular" indoor. A turf field surrounded by boards/glass with recessed goals.

I played indoor a decent amount growing up and futsal a couple of times. Preferred futsal and wish that I could have played it more. Though, I know which direction this thread is going to go in.
Honestly, I have a lot of fond memories of indoor growing up, but it could be super annoying. The worst times that I've had playing it were probably against players who were forced inside for the winter and played something that vaguely resembled soccer.

I like both but for different reasons. I'm not one of those people who thinks wall-ball is worthless because it's not, but I do think futsal is superior for technical development. The only real downside to futsal can be over-reliance on using the sole of the foot to control the ball, which doesn't translate all that well to the outdoor game.
I tried to get guys from my other teams to go to play pickup futsal and some did, but many were scared off by the name or just had no idea what it was. We tried getting the owner to also build a turf field there as well to bring in more business but I guess in the end he just decided to shut it down. That said, they were fricking awful at marketing and that ultimately really hurt them.

Exactly like that.

We have an indoor intramural league at Auburn starting up soon that I'm excited to play in, but I'd take futsal all day, every day. Hate the walls.

We had this at LSU but it was... not great. Mostly because we played on the basketball courts, goalies weren't allowed (but nets were standard size for futsal) and the referees were terrible, of course.
ETA: I mean we played futsal, not indoor.

We have this new multi purpose gym/court thing at our new rec center that was built solely for indoor soccer. It's opening was delayed because they built the fire extinguishers to stick out of the walls...you know, where we were supposed to play.

Dang. We had a huge flood light and its fixture fall on the field off the ceiling last week after it got hit by a blocked shot. Luckily it didn't land on anyone. It was kinda scary though haha.

my favorite type of indoor soccer i have ever played was just an indoor turf field that didnt have walls. so it was basically just like 7v7 soccer. awesome.
