Japan played like pussies 2/3 games and then left it up to chance in the last ten minutes and yet go on over a very organized entertaining Senegal team that actually tries.
I never wanted Japan to advance in general but the way they played and that match ended is wrong.

To be fair, in the previous World Cup, this situation to seperate Japan and Senegal would have been decided by lots. At least Fair Play actually reflects an aspect of play on the field, while drawing of lots is just luck.
It’s not perfect, but it was either this or drawing lots. I prefer this.

Japan was extremely underwhelming this tournament
and is probably the worst team to make it to the knockout rounds.

Don’t misinterpret me - I don’t care about fair play and think it’s better than lots.
The fact that Japan didn’t try against a Poland team that didn’t give af when it was in their control - if Senegal scored only one goal (not a crazy thing to happen) it would have ended it. That’s the part I can’t stand. Compare that to South Korea’s effort yesterday.
