I feel badly for Dempsey. This sounds very serious for his viability on the pitch. I hope to see him play again but above all I hope that he lives a long fulfilling life.

So, fun fact. I am playing soccer this weekend with my team and we have this new guy they kept calling Dempsey. I thought nothing of it. I starting talking to him after our game while drinking a beer and he was telling me a story of his brother who plays for the Sounders and the USMNT...and I was like "Uh, are you Clint Dempsey's brother?" He said yes.

Sure enough I googled him later and sure enough he was in plenty of pics with Deuce. The brother that is on my team is really good too.

That's very cool
Just curious, is his demeanor similar to his bros?

I find it pretty odd this guy woudn't just be like "Yeah, my brother Clint Dempsey." Like he's not some one off guy who had 1 cap for the U.S. and played for the Sounders a few years ago. Everyone knows Clint Dempsey.

"Yeah, my bro just captained the greatest nation on earth at the World Cup. No big deal."

Ryan... he's a good ol' baw. We played on the same select team in East TX as kids for a few years, he was '79 iirc. He was always the star of his age group.

My cousin and Clint are pretty tight, the same age and played sports together growing up. I may or may not have partaken in some indian peace offerings with them on occasion. in the off season, of course.
