The Government has been urged to "take a role" in scrutinising the proposed Saudi-led takeover of Newcastle by the chair of the all-party parliamentary group on football.
Clive Betts, the Labour MP for Sheffield South East, says the Saudi Arabian state's alleged involvement in pirate network beoutQ, which has illegally broadcast Premier League matches as well as other sporting events, means the Government must give the proposed £300m deal its attention and not leave it in the hands of the Premier League.
The Saudi public investment fund is a key part of the deal.
Interesting

True
But still doesn’t hurt to have a wealthy owner willing to spend
Mets really fricked that one up with Axelrod

The only place that has really happened has been in France with PSG and Man City. It certainly hasn't happened in Spain, Italy, or Germany. And obviously, the more billionaire owners there are putting money into the sport, the less likely it is that teams can buy a championship.
Honestly, getting a rich Arab to buy the club is a better prospect than the vulturous methods of Kroneke and the Glazers, who put no money in, and use clubs as though they aren't playing a sport at all, but rather as assets to be used for other expenditures.

If they were able to get Pochettino it would make it really easy to root for them, except for games against Tottenham.

Deal is in doubt due to a channel that pirates broadcasts being found to be Saudi Arabian by the WTO.
