RUMOR: Premier League will soon announce league season is over

Have not seen anyone big reporting this yet, but it’s making the rounds on Twitter.
Rumors flying that Udinese Sporting Director Pierpaolo Marino has told others that the EPL will soon announce the season as finished with the current table being final.
Udinese is owned by the same people that own Watford.

I'm cool with giving Liverpool the title, but to give out CL, and more importantly promotion spots based on the current table doesn't sit well with me.
Especially since not all teams have even played the same amount of matches (looking at you Sheffield United and Aston Villa).

Yeah I can’t imagine how that works with the bottom three especially. I think Villa has played one less game than the others, if they were to win next match they’d be clear. Though I have no clue who their next game would’ve been against.
I just don’t see how you can call the season, and let results stand as they are. I would imagine several clubs could sue. Either you void the entire season, or find some way to bring about a close to the season by playing games.

Ending the league now is not much different than ending the league on the final day.
The relegation thing sucks, but those teams shouldn’t have sucked so hard. I’d say the same thing if Liverpool were included in that bottom three. Shouldn’t have sucked so hard the first 2/3 of the season.
We can “ifs and buts” all day about what chance they weren’t provided, but that chance was denied on the upper end of the table too. No honor guard, no celebration at Anfield, the final European spot being set with the table as-is... everyone gets what they have earned to this point. Makes the most sense to me.

I heard that FIFA was supposedly extending the season indefinitely. Basically giving leagues free reign to restart whenever.

I don't understand how you can possibly say this when a relegation bound team has played 1 less match than the rest of them and can get out of the relegation zone with a single win.
Scraping by relegation, for better or worse, can literally be the difference between a club becoming Bolton and a club becoming Leicester.

All of the rumors I’ve read didn’t say anything about relegation though.
They’d automatically promote any team that was in that spot and instead play with more teams next year and have more relegation spots

Yeah the rumor I've seen most often is:
Title goes to Liverpool
CL spots frozen as is
No Relegation
PL plays 2020-21 with 22 teams (obviously this adds 4 rounds) with 5 relegation spots
Normal season returns in 2021-22
Would make for a hell of an interesting relegation battle if it's true.
I believe voiding the season would take approval from all levels of the EFL, and there's not a chance they'd get that imo.

So what clubs are going under?
Posted on 4/8/20 at 8:21 am to Tigerfan7218
I think it would be possible to reassemble in mid may, 2-3 weeks of behind closed door “preseason”, play 9 games in june with or without fans, month of july off, another 2-3 week preseason and either start next year mid-late august or early September after what would’ve been the first intl break.

That's what I want... may have to slide that preseason back a bit, but I think that'd work

Then give them a playoff game against whoever their next opponent was. Win and you’re in.
And as far as going forward sans relegation, I like that idea too. Really either/or.

If true that'll be fun to watch
