USA fan or not, Ronaldo being out is not good for anybody, it lessens the tournament more than any other player imo

If we're going by the first round of games, I respectfully disagree.

ive decided that this line of thinking is shitty. it took me a while to arrive at that conclusion, but i have. ronaldo probably doesnt crack the top 50 of players i have enjoyed watching so far. he has the best potential to change that, but who cares? he has 2 games left out of like 40 left. there is too much talent and greatness occurring to give a shite about a ronaldo injury any more than an altidore injury.

So the best player in the world being out doesnt dampen the event more than Jozy fricking Altidore being out?
Ronaldo had a poor first game, but that hapens when you are down to 10 vs Germany, him missing out is a loss to the event.

Ronaldo has shown in the Euros he can put Portugal on his back and take them through, with him they have a chnace, without him they are done

If Portugal was playing England next, you'd be all about this.

that part was clearly aimed at the american fan. my apologies for not making that clear.

but no i dont think ronaldo being out dampens the event that much at all. the event is so much bigger than players and even teams that it just doesnt matter. if portugal wasnt here and sweden was, hardly anyone would bat an eye.

Idk man even without the three Real players they still will still put more players with top league experience on the field than we will.

Plus those guys might be motivated to win one for the Real three.

I'm happy Suarez thinks he fully fit. We can handle them anyway, they are still the same team who struggled to get past Jordan in the qualifiers.

People mention its a shame Zlatan and Bale etc arent there, it would be the same for Ronldo if they hadnt qualified.

Oh it cheapens it? So Gareth Bale and wales not playing doesn't rob us of another too player. Oh well Ronaldo may be out, doesn't hurt my feelings.

everyone here doesnt want this...

its a better tournament if all the world's best players in it. But it is no more or less devastating than Falcao being out for Columbia or Ibra not making it. maybe a slight bit more devastating than Jozy being out, but still Jozy being hurt definitely hurts the tournament.

But by the same token, it would be much better for the game if he doesnt have a career ending injury because of playing in this tournament.

You understand this is factually inaccurate? Look at the responses you've received. I appears self evident that some (this board's home nation) feel it's good.

The general soccer and US fan in me wants him to sit and save his career because he brings absolutely insane talent and virtually unparalleled skill.

The Barca fan in me desperately wants him to play against Ghana
