it's a two leg tie. one home and one away. bayern won at home 2-1. real madrid is at home today winning 2-1. It's all square

I was saying that it's slightly unfair that there is extra time as the second tiebreaker as the seoncd homteam has a slight advantage.

Getting the second leg at home, is a pretty big deal. But it has its disadvantages, for example a goal by Bayern in ET would require 2 Madrid goals in order for them to advance.

How is that different from the first leg? I'm lost, rephrase your question.

If the score ends 2-1 that is absolutely the ONLY way this game can go to extra time. It is as fair as it gets.

i think he's trying to say that madrid have the advantage of playing at home for the 30 minute extra time if this score were to stand

There is no extra time in the first leg.

Do you understand why there is no extra time in the first leg?

This is somewhat true. The team with the best record of the two plays the second leg at home. This must be why.

yeah, sorry I was pretty damn unclear.

I'm a self-avowed soccer noob on here that is slowly learning. I know a lot more now than I did in August.

Refer to my earlier post. Sure Madrid is playing the extra minutes at home, but a Bayern goal would be more valuable than a Real goal. It sort of evens out.

Yep. This is as fair as they can make it. They've implemented the away goals for a tiebreaker, extra time is the only tiebreaker for a completely tied up series.
