To be honest. 1 out of 16 people I know may just be Real Madrid fans.

yea we know man

but anyway good chance if you live in an area in the US with a heavy Hispanic population everyone of them is a Barca or Madrid fan. Their FB page alone has 84 million likes and I have about 30 friends who like them

And the 1 in 16 stat is defiantly believable around the world.

That's an inflated number, and the sole reason it's used is to illustrate the scale at which their platform needs to operate. It's more impressive to say that Azure scales well with that absurd figure than going into actual numbers. If all 450 million of those fans actually hit the servers at once, Azure's data centers may actually explode. No cloud solution on the planet can scale to that level under one client while still being responsible for everyone else's. That said, I actually like Azure, and I'm planning on using it to deploy something I'm working on currently.

My point is that it's probably nowhere near accurate and is used to make Real Madrid look good and Microsoft's cloud look buff as hell.

Well it's mostly white guys from Montgomery, military people, one Mexican team, and one Asian team. The Mexicans tend to wear some Barca jerseys. Asians tend to stick with EPL teams.

Just spitballing here, how many of the 2.6 billion people in China and India are RM fans? How about the 438 million in Pakistan and Indonesia? I would bet that less than 1/16 of the 323 million Americans are RM fans. Those are 5 of the 6 nations with the highest population. The other being Brazil.

Even in soccer rich countries, I would have a hard time calling anyone aged 3 or younger a "fan".

I could be way off here, but I think it is more likely that 15 out of 16 people in the world don't know what Real Madrid is. There are a lot of poor people not in soccer rich countries that don't have the luxury or television or internet. I think the stat I just made up may be ridiculous, but so is the 1/16 are fans of RM.

You can if you have a TV with a package that carries those leagues or internet.

Just pulled up RM's Facebook page. I have one friend that has liked their page. Also, their 48m likes may be a little bit exaggerated. There's at least an estimated 30 million profiles on Facebook that belong to dead people.

60% of the Earth's population does not have the internet at home.

There's 1.49 billion users on facebook, and the RM page only has 48 million likes. That's 3.22%. That's closer to 1/32 than 1/16.

You can. It doesn't mean people do. Soccer is by far the most popular sport in the world, but most of the world does not give a crap about soccer. I just think we assume that most of the world has the leisure time that we do to even follow a team from across the world.

Get out more

Literally around the world hundreds of people watch matches in little shantytown bars on bootleg satellite. You don't need fancy Internet and TV to watch soccer. More excuses about not being able to watch the game from you.

and they have 84 million likes on fb not 48.
