Never said it was a lock, which I made clear in a subsequent post. But if both Barca and Real are on transfer bans it helps our chances for sure. It will probably come down to if he wants to play in England or if he wants to help his hometown club take the next step. No wrong choice there and whoever he picks will make it happen.
May have to sell Matuidi too but the point is that they won't be limited to spending only what they sell.

Yes, they overpaid, no it wasn't the best move they could have made. That said he is a pretty good player and has fit into the team very well. We don't go through against Chelsea without his header and he was playing on one leg when Suarez abused him.

Barcelona are currently serving a 14-month ban and cannot sign players until January 2016, after their appeal against the punishment to FIFA and to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) was upheld.
“We are not in a position to comment on any proceedings that are ongoing,” a FIFA spokesman said. “No further information can be provided for the time-being."

Part of the deal they cut with UEFA last year was that they "show restraint" but could spend about 50 million Euro plus what they sell, which was all spent on Luiz (admittedly not the smartest thing). This year it's going to be a little higher because they have legitimately increased revenues and invested in infrastructure. Likely to be about 70 but they just used 10 of it to finalize Serge Aurier's loan to buy deal.
The "plan" as I understand it right now it to roll with Pastore-Ibra/Cavani-Lucas up front, Verratti-Pogba (if they can sign him) in the middle with Luiz moving to CDM to take Motta's spot then Aurier-Silva-Marquinhos-Maxwell in the back with another loan to buy deal for an extra attacker

None of these big clubs are actually going to get in any real trouble. Barca bought Luis frickin Suarez when they were supposed to be banned. Convenient it didn't go into effect until the next window or whatever horseshite they came up with.
