This thing has been floating around on twitter so thought I would post it here. Not sure which podcast this was or who said it, so if anyone knows that please post.
Its embarrassing that someone from another country appreciates what we have done in the WC, yet some of our own citizens continue to bash our players and the sport and think we "backed into the KO stage" and that "Ghanas goalie threw the game". Pathetic.
And to whoever went on this rant...

Whoever called that guy is gets it. At some point you have to take the u.s. seriously and this seems like as good a time as any.
I've been wanting to play England in a friendly for a while cause I'm curious as to how we'd do. I think we would have a good shot at winning that game.

With England's new players not even being in the same league as the generation they're replacing, I think an argument could soon be made for us having a superior national team.

This. Unless England has some youngsters that are incredibly talented they are in for a rough 10 years or so.

I didn't mean they were going to be terrible, but English fans are always going to have ridiculously high expectations. I think they will be have a solid squad, but nothing special. I'm sure they have some young talent, but I haven't seen anyone that is going to replace Rooney, Gerrard, Lampard, Terry or Ferdinand.

The EPL creates unrealistic expectations for fans.

Many England fans are worried about a "Dark Age" coming up. Non of the new talent is making for promising super stars of the future. Rooney, Gerrard, Lampard are the last vestiges of probably England's Golden Generation. Their best shots were in 1998-2006. Truly gifted players at their prime like Tony Adams, Paul Scholes, Sol Campbell, Alan Shearer, David Beckham, John Terry, Gary Neville, Ashley Cole, Rio Ferdinand, David Seaman, Michael Owen. A good portion of the England squad this year don't even start at their clubs.
This isn't a typical "oh, no a new SNL cast, I liked the old guys better" thing this is the 1980 Cast coming and people slowly realizing it.
