All that graph showed is that America didn't give a frick about soccer until the 1994 World Cup.

The irony here from someone accusing someone else of being disingenuous when you don't even know what the graph is telling you, but drawing conclusions from it.
no. the graph shows that soccer participation among american youth has been stagnant since 2000. that is a failure on US Soccer and you're just in complete denial and enjoy being stubborn/naive.

Do you think youth baseball, basketball and football are seeing drastic jumps?
i don't expect to see drastic participation jumps in established sports. as you said, soccer was viewed as a niche sport in america but after the 94 world cup participation catapulted. the growth trend should have continued but levelled off because of reasons already mentioned.
if the youth participation had continued on the same trajectory post 94, we would've already had 6'5 calvin johnson looking mofos on the wings, doing stepovers, cutting inside and slapping it into the top corner.
we should've been dominating the sport already.

It's because of coaching that we aren't. This country is big enough to not have participation in one sport syphon participation from another sport.
We have more youth participation in soccer than Croatia, Belgium and the Netherlands do. We just don't have the youth coaching pedigree that those countries have.
It's easy to figure out what the problem is, just not easy to fix it because youth coaches aren't going to become better here overnight.

All joking aside, and whether it has to do with rainbow flags or not, it's not as simple as any of you are making it out to be. The caliber of athlete is an issue, the fact kids don't play on their own is an issue, pay to play is an issue, the lack of national pride is an issue, coaching may be an issue but I think it's less of one than the other three.

no man, its because the kids playing soccer are the ones that didn't get picked in the 5 on 5 pickup basketball game or 7 on 7 flag football. soccer is getting the shitty unathletic castoffs/leftovers not good enough for the most popular/competitive sports.
in croatia and belgium, the A+ talent are playing soccer and only soccer. its mad competitive

Again, we are 50 times bigger than those countries, there's more than enough athletes to go around.
You're not thinking clearly because you saw a rainbow flag.

Then you're fundamentally wrong.
It begins with coaching.

nah, you just dont get it.
no there is not enough athletes to go around, because the pool of talent participating is not good enough. bunch of short fat hispanic kids. the serious athletes are not playing soccer in america and why would they.,,,its gay as hell to them

Which is why we never dominate in the olympics across multiple sports.

No, they just get transported to La Masia or the like if a scout thinks they are worth a shite.
Why do you think Emi Martinez sounds like a brit?

My father was from Argentina. It’s just different down there.
Here, kids are in school 7 to 8 hours per day. In South America, school is 4 hours. You are either a morning student or afternoon student. If you play soccer, you go from school straight to the academy or vice versa. And you do that EVERY SINGLE DAY. So you’re training 4 hours a day and that’s not including any practicing you do on your own.
We treat school as education plus daycare so parents can work full time.

He was 18 when he moved to England, well past the "grassroots" level.
Posted on 6/10/24 at 9:46 pm to RandySavage
So you think he developed more as a GK in Argentina?
Do you think if Brazil and Argentina didn’t send their guys over to Europe, they’d still be soccer powers in 2024? Nope, they’d be Mexico.
Soccer culture is great and all, but if you don’t have the proper coaching, it doesn’t mean much

Broodis Man, you fell victim to one of the classic blunders! The most famous of which is, never get involved in a land war in Asia, but only slightly less well-known is this: Never go in against Broski when a graph is on the line!

They, by and large, aren't going over until they are well into their teens. Long after the "roots" have been established. It's way more the culture than the coaching

MISSED YOU!
More than a year later and you're still triggered that I laughed at you when you thought Busio was a winger. So much so that you're trying to hype up a dude who thinks the only kids playing soccer in America are fat mexicans

Huh?
Obviously you’re not a fan of The Princess Bride.
