I played soccer in highschool with a guy from Azerbaijan. Take the most Russian of all Russian men, and mix him with a muslim and that's what this dude looked like.

Safe to say, he was intimidating.

As for this Falcao deal, am I understanding this correctly: Monaco pay 55 million euros for Falcao, knowing that he will be leaving on a free for Real in the very next transfer widow? Why would they throw that kind of money at a 5 month rental?

Kinda disappointed if true... I thought he'd only move to a UCL club... Monaco played in Ligue 2 this past year and probably a couple years from UCL football..

Not worried about losing Suarez to AM

I can buy this. ASM was recently acquired by a Russion billionaire.

but his contract says he´s free (can leave with no penalty due), if Real Madrid comes calling.

This part sounds BS.

the ´Real Madrid´clause has been a part of football for over two decades.

They´ll get their money back, possibly with a profit as well. Real will have to pay them, simply there´s no penalty for leaving, that the player would have to pay.

Ah OK, that makes a lot more sense. I thought you meant that RM could swipe Falcao on a free transfer after a year.

No, he´s free to go, at fair market value, determined by the two clubs. Mónaco cannot say ´no´ or levy exhorbitant demands, as his clause says he´s in it for the duration of the contract, unless Real Madrid makes an offer.

Redditor expertly explains the Falcao situation

I would have just quoted it but he provides a ton of links.

This is great for people like me that previously didn't understand 3rd party ownership.

very interesting stuff. Damn soccer only gets more complicated when you start to pay attention to contracts, transfers, etc.

If Monaco spends anything close to what PSG did, they may well make it next year. They could bring in a lot of talent for Ranieri to tinker with.

Yeah, I don't think Atletico Madrid has the money to buy Saurez. I may be wrong but I don't think they actually get any money from selling Falcao. He has a 3rd party owners so it probably just gets them out of the debt they never paid Porto.

I'd expect his replacement to be another 3rd party owned player whose actual owners want to get exposure on the CL stage.

They do or don't have the money?

They don't have 60m to spend.

Less than a 10% possibility IMO.

I don't think LS would leave for them... May be a bit naive of me, but I can't see it...

Sorry I left out that all important "don't"

I meant to say that AM doesn't really get the money for Falcao and I think their finances are pretty sketchy... I read where Porto had sued them for not paying the small portion not paid by Falcao's 3rd party owners.

I'd put the chances at even less than 10% unless they have some huge investor come aboard.

OK now everything makes more sense. ASM can't say no to any outside offers because they don't have the controlling shares of Falcao's rights.

I think these type of arrangements are no longer legal in England after the Mascherano/Tevez case.

They are only going to see about 16 million euros from the Falcao deal. The rest will go to the 3rd party owners and toward paying debts.
