but if you guys think this is the most unfair game ever then you haven't been watching the sport very long.

i never said that. and just becuase there have been worse officiated games doesn't make it better.

it's definitely the worst officiated of this world cup, which is sad because 1) it's a round of 16 match and 2) Mark had been doing so well to this point. not only that, but it potentially had an effect on the outcome. not saying nigeria wouldn't have lost anyway, but they would have stood a better chance.

Did Giroud actually hit him with the elbow or did he just make the motion?

Eh, I don't know if I agree. Geiger missed some calls but there have been games this tournament with extremely soft penalties as well as good goals taken away. Those are as big decisions as missing red card offenses.

Geiger tried to let things go to help the game, but missed the big call on Matuidi. It happens. I doubt he'll get another game this tournament, but it was a good go by him.

My great grandpa is from France, as well as most of my ancestry. So that's why I root for France (unless they are playing the USofA).

Besides which, although it is fashionable to bash the French, they have been a force for democracy in world history. They helped us in the American Revolution. They overcame kings and dictators in their own revolutions (well, kings anyway), they lost over 1.5 million people in WWI and over 1/2 million in WWII (a little more than we did). They supported Israel, an outpost of democracy in the middle east, at key times when few others did.

So yeah, they can be arrogant and aggravating from time to time but I think the hate is sometimes overblown

Sorry, it was on page 5 by Bottom9.

In my view, Mikel played a really poor game. There were a couple of instances where France nicked the ball of off him in midfield, and he otherwise struggled in the creator role. It's no surprise that Nigeria struggled to break down France, though they had some good chances.

Giroud also struggled. The midfield 3 were too far from him, as he needs a runner right off his shoulder to play the little flicks he loves. He and Benzema didn't combine well, and I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't start the next game.

I posted that it was unjust because France should've been down to 10 or 9 men not because they were winning. And they were playing pretty reckless. Cabaye escaped a few yellows.

They lucked out with refereeing decisions. That said, Nigeria was awful in the final 3rd and Griezmann changed the game.

The French players argued a few calls at the start of the game, then the ref just favored them the rest of the game.

Anyone arguing the French were better are arguing a DUMB POINT, the best team doesn't always win, so don't use that B.S. to justify a badly reffed game.

An easy penalty that he saw went unpunished

A flagrant easy red card that he called a yellow, anyone reckon that player limping the last 25 minutes gave the French an advantage?

The French were very fortunate that this ref was calling the game.

But in this case the better team did win.
