ESPN-Champions League proposal could create new format, end group stage
I always view more games as a win. Although an argument for more injuries and not full fitness can be made. But it’s why you have more than 11players on a team and can register different players than home league.
If it’s more competitive as claimed it is a good thing also.
Cheers

UEFA is considering replacing it with a format in which the 32 clubs would play 10 different opponents and qualification would come from one league table. That would allow for more games and -- UEFA hopes -- more games that matter, generating higher revenues and greater fan interest.

Magical fishbowls filled with equally magical(yet somehow rigged) ping pong balls

They heat ping-pong balls up so that they'll float to the top. And be hot to the touch.

It’s a super league without it actually being a league

Actually no
You still have to qualify based on merit
Not your club's status among the elite
You probably shouldn't be arguing about the super league

Although Im a traditionalist when it comes to sports Im for this. As a fan of a big club like most of us are we will get to see bigger games rather than playing a Ukranian squad twice in 8 weeks. However this kind of ruins the parity in smaller level sides making it out of an easier group

I mean is the current format broken or something? I don't see the need to change this for sporting purposes. Of course they want more games. More games = more money
Already pissed about the World Cup format changing. Would hate to see this change too

ESPN article on BeIN interview
Wenger, now FIFA's head of global development, told BeIN Sports.
Europe's top leagues, including the Premier League, also want UEFA to reconsider the plans amid concerns over fixture congestion.
Wenger, now FIFA's head of global development, told BeIN Sports.
quote:
"The model that is proposed for the modern Champions League, I don't like it at all,"
"The clubs always want more money. To get more money, they want more guaranteed games. The fans want more games of significance. "Modern football has to find a compromise between what the clubs and fans want."
"As long as we in the game don't respect the sporting merit in a logical way, we are not right," he said. "All people who play top-level competition would say you have to keep the merit of the quality of your performance."
