And I don't get people who say "they can't get into it because they don't have a team to support." You managed to pick a team halfway across the world, why can't you pick a MLS team?

This is probably true these days. Though having a local team helps. But when I picked my team across the pond, the MLS was not around. And the first couple of years it was borderline unwatchable.

These days though, there is plenty of quality soccer in the MLS.

The attacking play last night was pretty good but it was mainly because of the horrendous defending and goalkeeping. Last night may have been an anomaly but that was some borderline rec league defending out there last night. With that said it all added up to a pretty entertaining game after the first 20 min. or so.

LA and SJ have two of the worst defensive lines in MLS.

Hyperbole much? Yes the defending caused problems for the goalkeepers (people complaining about the goalkeeping are out of line, IMO), but there was some great flowing, open, attacking soccer that put pressure on the defenders for the course of the entire game.

Missing Omar has crushed them. IMO, he was the best defender in the MLS before going down. frickING CHANDLERSTEIN. He really fricked over the US defender pool.

And I guess if there is a low scoring game it's simply because the offense was bad not the defense was good.

Gotcha.

I'm not saying that that was good defending. Just seems like you are trying way too hard to discredit the MLS.

Exactly. Just ignore him. He made his point last night...he's not going to like MLS. It's not Chelsea. Period.

But he won't shut up about it.

Not at all but what I, and anyone who watched, saw last night was awful defending. There is no way to defend that at the professional level.

Conversely if you, or anyone else, tries to defend that level of defending than you are trying to way too hard to credit the MLS.

I said it was one game, I didn't make any generalizations about the entire league based on that game. You guys need to relax.

Look, I don't mind watching MLS, but although the match was entertaining, it was pretty shitty. The defending was terrible and to be honest everything was second class. The ref was shitty, Becks is fighting everyone.....MLS still has a looooooooooooong way to go.

No one is going to defend that defending. But keep in mind that the rest of the league doesn't defend like that.

I didn't think that the attacking was second-class.

It only wasn't because the defending was so bad.
