If guys like Zusi, Wondo, Davis, and Beckerman can make it so can mullins. Soccer by ives mentioned him as one of the three mls rookies most likely to eventually get a call up along with Shipp and that guy from Montreal.
If he keeps this up for another year or so he'll at least get a shot in some January MLS-heavy camps to show what he can do

Starting left back for USMNT 2018 World Cup.
You heard it here first.

That would be one hell of a position change

I know he was involved in "regional" teams for USA soccer in high school. Not sure if that's considered a big deal or not.

kinda off topic but how does the future look for the US? do we have any studs in the farm system?
We've got a guy in Barca's youth system and one in Real Madrid's. We've got a few players in English and German youth systems as well.

Considering that he hasn't participated in the US youth systems at all, he has to perform really well, like consistently be near the top in scoring year in and year out, to get a call up.
Do a little more research.

I'm pretty sure he missed Jesuit's playoff run one year because he was with the USA U17's for a tournament somewhere in South America

Probably talking about Official Youth Caps. Does he have any of those?

Don't think so. He's definitely gotten a "late" start to the international game, which is ironic because he's 22. But I don't see any reason for him to not at least get a look in the next couple years if he can consistently score goals.
It doesn't exactly answer this question, but here's a feature story I wrote on him (yesterday actually

Shameless self plug

Wondo did it. Can be done, but hard to do.

It's a big deal but basically all of the guys who are going to play for a prestigious college or get a Generation Adidas contract do that. I had a friend who was doing that, and he wasn't near the level of Mullins in terms of even college recruitment (basically the schools who wanted Mullins-level prospects were viewing my friend as a 2nd or 3rd option).
LSU Red, thanks for the link. I'll read it later in the day.

The striker to left back switch is not unprecedented.

He missed the state championship his junior year because he was with the U-17 USMNT in Argentina for a tournament.
Give Mullins some time. he's showing well so far in his brief career. Let's see if he can keep it up first before demanding he see time for the national team. But I have to agree, thus far he looks like a great prospect.
