I agree with whoever said a move to Ajax, would probably be best for him... he could stay there for 4-5 years and still go to Madrid at 20-21...

ajax would be good but still he wouldn't start for another couple years

I doubt he really sees the field for Madrid, since there are a pool of players that are currently better than him in wherever he could play... But by most accounts, that is his best position..

or even PSV (one of those top tier dutch clubs)... He would definitely get more first team opportunities there than in Madrid.. Hell, he'd get more first team opportunities almost anywhere else in world football...

Madrids academy has produced a ton of talent. It's not a bad move

yeah, and they don't play at Madrid anymore either..

Nah, it's just my opinion, but its already done.. I don't even really have that strong of an opinion on the issue.. so, I hope they develop the guy and we get to see his talents over the next 15 years or so...

Playing time in Holland with a first team would be better for long term development

There was never a chance of him going to the Netherlands. The only "good for development" choice that actually had a chance of happening was a reunion with his old manager at Celtic. Of course, I don't blame the kid for going to Madrid.

What part of that sentence is delusional? His dad mentioned Celtic as a possibility and the manager of Norway stated that he wanted him to go to Celtic. And the only clubs mentioned by the Norwegian press that were possible landing spots for him were Madrid, City, Pool, Bayern and Celtic. And if you're knocking Celtic for development, look at how many players that played for Celtic now play in England (and Wales).

If you think Celtic and playing in Scotland is the best thing for his development you are delusional.

Better coaching, better facilities, better competition in plenty of countries that trump Celtic.

Of those clubs that were possibilities, which one would have given him the chance to play in the first-team quickest?

And there is no club in the EPL that doesn't have at least one player in the first-team squad that didn't play in Scotland.

What's better for development: playing matches or not playing matches?

Every club in the EPL has at least one player in their first team squad that played in Scotland.
