Altidore got suckered into a shite yellow with Central American bullshite, and as a result couldn't be as physical as he had been up to that point.

Yeah I've often wondered why he hasn't been given another shot. I would've liked to see him more.

There is no direct "Jozy" replacement on this team, and that baffled me.

You think we're fricked now, watch if Jozy picks up a yellow tomorrow.

Wondolowski-Agudelo?

Adu-Agudelo?

Wondolowski-Adu?

When Brian Ching (or Conor Casey) - Eddie Johnson is an UPGRADE to your situation..... holy shitballs.

There hasn't been a true forward pairing since Wynalda-Mcbride

Conor Casey - Why that guy kept getting chances is beyond me! He sucked so bad. He's the attacking equivalent of Bornstein.

Adu-Agudelo?

frick it...why not?

I was one of the few who saw that game live. Holy shite, I went nuts. Same night as LSU - FLA 2009.

I understand why you mock people who want to see Adu, but his constantly changing club situation is not reason to think he can't be effective for the U.S.
He has been effective for the U.S. when he has gotten a shot.
Also, he was scoring goals and creating chances in MLS in his mid-teens (if you believe his stated age), so it's probably fair to say that he could be doing that in MLS today if he chose to play there. The point being you can't exclude him based on his club situation alone, b/c his club situation is at least partly a result of where he is trying to play.

Fun fact: I actually like Adu as a player.

He does a few things well... footskill, passing, and set pieces. But in every instance, there's a player in the pool who can do what he does, at least (or almost) as well, AND is bigger, stronger and faster.

He'll require the right combination of players around him to succeed at the club level, and unless he learns to give SOME defensive effort, I'm not sure he can at the international level.

I hope he can find that club, and I hope he can contribute in Olympic qualifying. I hope he finds his niche, but as the years and clubs go by, that seems less and less likely to occur.

Adu could become the new Jovan Kirovski. Always on the fringe of the national team, but never a key player. Also Kirovski and Adu have bounced around their share of clubs.

And for both, the primary complaint is lack of effort/concern/passion/whatever.

At least Clint Mathis harnessed his talent for a little while before the malaise kicked in.

Put Frankie Hejduk's or Pablo Mastroeni's motor in any one of those guys, and we probably wouldn't wonder when we'd see the first "world class" American.

So I just got back from Florida. Was it just me or did the ref really really suck?

They made a couple bad calls. The USMNT still deserves all of the blame.

I didn't like the refs style, but I thought he was reasonably consistent. Just allowed a bunch of fouls to occur without blowing his whistle.

Jurgen isn't the answer, my friend.

and Bedoya was touched and he milked the contact. He would have given Panama the pk though

I thought so too, but I wouldn't call that a dive if so. Everybody goes down in that situation.
