I'm assuming that those who only played a half (or sat entirely, excepting Agudelo, who went 60) will be in the 18.

Howard, Hahnemann, Lichaj, Bornstein, Bocanegra, Gooch, Goodson, Cherundolo, Spector, Edu, Jones, Bradley, Dempsey, Donovan, Altidore, Agudelo, Wondolowski, pick one out of Bedoya/Adu/Kljestan.

I know Gooch is probably going to start. I just hate it. Because he's terrible.

He's not terrible. His knee is just shot.

It's the most painful thing to watch, because at times, it's looked like he's dragging that leg behind him.

I'm not sure Ream is ready to take on the position full time, but did anyone notice how fast he was against Spain?

Deceptive speed.

About as terrible as 8 other starting field players, and slightly less terrible than Gooch.

He was far and away the worst player out there. Rogers in 2nd. Klejstan did better 2nd half.

I think Stewie is right about Ream. He is taking a pounding because he was pretty terrible against the best team in the world. However he has proven time and time again that he is quality against MLS-caliber competition. In the Gold Cup all he will face is MLS-quality competition, and less. Except, of course, for Mexico. I hope he and Lichaj get a ton of minutes in this tournament.

My friend, Jones was the worst.

Robbie Rogers was running down the field and HAD A BALL HIT HIM ON THE TOP OF HIS HEAD.

That's funny in a U-6 game. That's downright embarrassing against the best team in the world.

Even if Ream was the worst player in a meaningless game against the best player in the world, his ability to distribute from the back is valuable, especially considering that Onyewu loves hoofing the ball to no one in particular, and there is no guarantee that Gooch will return to his form pre-injury.

Agreed, it's not fair to blame one player in particular. The defense failed because the midfield failed.

Even the best defenders in the world are going to make mistakes when the opposing team passes the ball around your penalty area for 90 minutes.

I'll get this thread back on track though...

This team doesn't look great, but it's good enough to give us fits if we come out flat.

It's interesting that Canada has yet to call up Hoilett. He's a better option attacking wise than most of their players.

Just glancing over his profile, he definitely looks like a player that should have made their 23 man roster.

It also says he's eligible for England, Jamaica, and Canada.

Maybe he's still in the decision making process? I think Jamaica is his best chance at playing in a WC

I remember reading that he's mostly committed to Canada. His brother who plays for Mainz has capped for Canada's U-20 team. Holliett and Jermaine Jones bossed the game for Blackburn against Arsenal. I was really impressed.

Canada needs to work hard and get Jonathan de Guzman back into the mix.

I hope this board doesn't shite itself if we only beat them by a goal differential of 1 or 2. Canada aren't great, but they will be fesity and tough to crack, imo.

I never shite myself with US win, but I do think we have the quality to beat them by at least 2
