But, that may be too slow of a tempo for Jurgen.

Looks like you and Jurgen are both determined to find out that Parkhurst isn't an international LB.
I assume the decision to leave off Lichaj is to force Williams-Johnson-Morales to LB, and cap-tie all three of them.
At least that's my hope.
I don't find Parkhurst on the outside in a game that matters a bit underwhelming.

Unhappy with the roster. Im at the beach and on my phone so Im not going to get too in depth but if we struggle for results with this team my opinion on JK will definitely change.
No lichaj an Kljestan is absolutely absurd. How many players does the USA have starting in the epl and in the champions league?
Whitbread also should be getting his first cap and when you consider that he's looking for a club now i really think JK could have helped put him in the shop window

I mean out of our recent call ups. It's who i'd go with. I don't think I'd go with Castillo or Morales. Once again it's our weak position.
I'd much rather have Chandler and Lichaj. I'm really bummed that Lichaj isn't in the recent call ups.
Williams is hurt. Johnson, maybe. Morales isn't international quality either
Goodson/Boca/Onyewu is solid in the middle.
ETA:
I thought so too. But, I was looking and he hasn't played since March. I think he has a calf injury.
ETA2: I have missed Danny Williams in the roster. I completely looked over him. Wow. He hurt his shoulder in practice and missed the last game of his bundesliga season.

Johnson was a monster as a left back against Italy. I think people are forgetting that.

While he did play well vs Italy he has gotten toasted when he has played LB at hoffenheim. He's not a defender.

------------------Altidore--------------------
Johnson----------Dempsey------------------Donovan
-----------Bradley--------Edu/Jones--------
Castillo----Boca----------Gooch-----------Dolo
I hate putting Castillo in their but I'm not sure where else to go. Johnson may not be a LB but he's got some good defensive qualities and could help Castillo out. With that lineup both Johnson and Donovan provide good tracking back theoretically. Some obvious picks also, Jozy as the striker, Demps as the 10, Bradley. Not too concerned who we pair Bradley with really, Edu or Jones would be fine with me.
Herc or Wondo off the bench if we want to put on a second striker late.
I wouldn't be totally against a 4-1-2-1-2 diamond of sorts, but that would mean Landon up top alongside Jozy. Or Dempsey up top and Landon as the 10, although I'm pretty set on Deuce in that role.
----------------Jozy--------------Donovan---------
-----------------------Demps--------------------
------------Johnson--------------Bradley----

Castillo---------Boca-----------Gooch-------Dolo
That would put more pressure on Castillo though, not sure I'd be thrilled about that part. Would feel better if it was someone like Chandler but that's kind of what we went with in the Slovenia friendly, with Buddle up top alongside Jozy, and Beckerman at the defensive mid role.
Not that we have Donovan up top much, except for the Gold Cup final. Never under Klinnsman although frankly Landon hasn't played that much lately.

If only Brek Shea was in camp, we could have the tallest left wing of all time

Clarence Goodson might not be good at LB. But he can replay his role in Napoleon Dynamite.

I think Zusi and Cameron have become Klinsmann's go-to young(ish) MLS guys after January.
Zusi is very calm on the ball and can pick out a cutting pass better than anyone in the league, in the mold of a Pirlo type player.
Cameron is a versatile defender with good instincts, and better than average at playing out of the back rather than kick-and-run guys like Gooch/Boca/Goodson.

Cameron has incredible tools for a CB but he is still learning the position after spending most of his career in the midfield
Not sold on zusi. Agreed he can pick a pass but there's a big difference between being a playmaker in mls and at the international level. Speed of play is much faster and space is at a premium. For me he's a bit of a wildcard but my personal opinion based on the limited time I've seen him play is that I don't think he will be good enough. Would love to be proven wrong. Plus he'd already probably be considered our best set piece taker

Don't know if I posted this earlier. Klinsmann said about Cameron that he is "knocking at the door"
I really think that Cameron and Gonzalez, pre-knee injury, have all the tools to make it at a big club. Really sucks that Gonzo got his knee destroyed by Chandler.

Per Goff:

Yea, it's sad but I think Davies is done for. It's remarkable that he is still playing professional sports. I just don't know how much is left in the tank. One of my favorite players for the US.
Adu is still only 22. He has time and is still young.
frick. Tim Chander. Even if he swings back to the US, I'm not sure he will have many fans outside of the casual fans.

Santos Laguna just won the Mexican title. Gomez didn't play today, any ideas why ?
