Bubba, why are you so negative overall right now? This is our first loss in 10 or 12 matches, and all of a sudden the sky is falling and we are back to transfer complaints?
With Lovren back in the team and Sakho and Lucas out that was our best shot at getting back into the Champs League.
Holy God, how fitting he would sky it.
He is going to get crucified.

I understand that. Lovren deserves the criticism undoubtedly. Our year isn't over though. Still lots of soccer to play.

Calling it a little too soon huh? We're 2 pts out of 4 and 3 out of 3rd... Still in good shape to make it back to Europe next year

It's just frustrating to see this team do soo well during the league matches and then play so shitty during the European matches. I don't mean to be negative but these European matches is when our transfers should come out and show what they got and they don't. We finally make the european matches and now we're back to square one. I have faith that we'll make a push for top four but we seriously need our forwards to show up. Sturridge is getting back to form but he needs help and that's obvious to say the least. Sunday will be a huge test to see how we bounce back

If anything its a positive that we don't have to play on thursdays anymore.
Still sad we put a full strength side out there and can't grab a goal in 120 minutes.
Poor management on Rodgers part, he's pretty clueless when it comes to Europe.

Still a chance at hardware too. FA Cup and 4th are now our only ambitions.

A full strength side would have included Coutinho, and Henderson. Granted there were injuries, but this was not a full strength side.

I can get down with all of what you said there, Bubba. I can't write off the turnaround we have seen from this side based on one undermanned match against a decent Turkish team.
Also, Can being in the midfield didn't seem to go so well. He had a lot of errant passes and giveaways. Had some good takeaways, but I can't justify him being anywhere but the back 3 based off the limited time we have seen him in a midfield slot.

A top 4 EPL side should easily be able to manage an away goal.
Brendan's tactics and our mentality are shite in Europe. Always have been. I chalk it up to inexperience.
Can you recall any decent performances in Europe since he's been our manager? I can't.
And again, happy with where we're going, it still sucks losing and looking like a Hodgson side doing it.

yeah i just hate seeing us get knocked out of europe after all the hard work we put to get into europe again. just sucks that our second team couldnt put it together.
we got sunday and i have high hopes for us to get the 3pts needed to show that were actually a contender for top 4

Doubt Rues leaves Dortmund for us at this point. That's lateral...

Yeah. No Cou, Hendo, Gerrard, Markovic, etc. This was not a full squad.

Dude... You're approach is wrong. You're putting way way too much emphasis on this match.
First of all this is only BR's second forray in Europe with Liverpool. He inherited a weak squad that was bound to fail in Europe 3 years ago. And no one really cared at the time, because the focus was on progress and changing the direction of the entire club. I agree that all our CL matches were awful, except our away match at Real Madrid. Even though we still lost, our youngsters showed a lot of promise.
I think it is very reasonable to think that a top 4 EPL squad would have trouble away at Besiktas.
And we don't at all look like Hodgson is here. Come on now.

I dunno, Danny did go off limping.

This does suck but we need to rebound Sunday and I can forget about this display. We have not handled Europe well this year though.

With only recently finding form, we are just fine. Let's face it... At the beginning of January, we didn't expect to even still be playing at this point. We have handled adversity well. I think what shows the most here is exactly how much Lucas/Coutinho/Hendo mean to this team. Without them, we fall apart.
BR said pre-match that he has had this game slotted all along to rest Coutinho, so to be honest, I am ok with today's result, albeit a disappointing one.
Once our guys recover from their knocks, we'll be right back at it. I still think we finish top 4. Arsenal has started having a bit of trouble, and with Man U not looking good either, I like our chances.

He's just naive when it comes to Europe. He'll get better with experience.
Not everyone can be Rafa, I get it. Just some of his decisions don't make sense.
I think you keep Balo on, regardless of the red strictly because of PKs. I'm fine with pulling Sturridge you want him juiced for Sunday.

Yeah, we'll be fine... Any word on when Lucas might return? I know Stevie is supposed to be back in training in the next week or so (or that's the last I heard).

I'm really not all that upset we are out of Europa. The Thursday to Sunday schedule can be brutal. We weren't going to win it anyway. So let's be done and concentrate on FA Cup and getting top four.
We have as few games left as anyone now - depending upon fa cup advancement. And we are close enough in points that there is no excuse to not finish top 4.
And top four is imperative to keeping our current squad and being able to add a Top player or two
