Yeah, no big deal about the results today considering the line-up.
What worries me is the lack of clinical finishing by many of our forwards this year, both starters and youngsters.
As much as people brag about Studge "creating chances", damn, he's been pretty poor putting it in goal on those chances this year. Add Bobby and Mane and Origi onto that list as well. Lallana and Couts have been pretty dependable with their chances this year.

Almost certain both goals against Sunderland were from corners

Two of the Palace goals were. Lovren/Matip.

I don't know if its bragging, its just stating facts.. He's one of the few players that will actually take a shot without being set up... he creates his own chances and even if he misses, sometimes the results are good.. see Everton
edit: yeah, Sunderland goals were from corners... I guess to be more specific, I should have said good delivery from corners that allows someone to put their head to it.. Matip and Lovren are probably our two most effective with their heads...

More rumors that we'll make Julian Brandt our summer target.
From an attacking perspective, he would be great and could fit across a front 3 well (but maybe not be the furthest forward as the primary role). I haven't watched him a ton, but my view of him has always been that his defense is not that good (not necessarily work rate, but the work itself). Anyone else watch him closely and have an opinion?
Big match today - after United won yesterday, I would like to see us take control of the tie. How much more fun than a Final against United could we have to shoot for?

He would be an outstanding signing... We would probably have a lot of competition for him though...
In our current system, he could play on either wing or possibly the Lallana role.
That is my opinion from having somewhat limited exposure to watching him... ~10-15 times watching him between the BuLi and Olympics

I was on a conference call most of the first half, but I thought Karius looked sharp... I can't really fault him for the goal... unless I missed something...

Karius has been great.
Seems ridiculous to be pessimistic while we are 2nd in the league but the last month or so has been a major struggle besides our win against Stoke. Thank the maker for that miracle at the end of the Everton match.
Can't expect to play at top form throughout an entire season (especially with how much we are missing) so I don't think there's much to necessarily be worried about, just sucks with the timing of it being a semi final and then at Old Trafford this weekend
Take 4 very important components out of any squad and they'll struggle. Matip, Mane, Phil, and especially Hendo are being greatly missed. Emre has been a little bit of a disappointment this season
Hopefully Coutinho can come on and produce some magic late :cheers;

We've definitely looked better going forward with Coutinho on... Hope Hendo is back soon

Yeah having someone with Mane/Coutinho's creativity is vital to our success. Also helps letting Lallana play a little deeper
Posted on 1/11/17 at 3:16 pm to 5 Deep
I agree 5D, Lallana has been absolutely brilliant in thatdeeper role. He busts his arse the entire match and dominates the midfield with his control and creative passing, not to mention his intelligent runs. He just has a sixth sense of late to do something that nobody at home is thinking he will with the ball to give the boys great opportunities.

We have 65% of the possession, but they have about as many shots on target as we have total shots.
Looks like a team without any ideas or ability to break the opposition down. Worn down and slow of foot and mind?
Wish I could watch, but it sounds like I'm not missing much.

Man, trying not get too down, but these last couple of weeks have been very frustrating...
Posted on 1/11/17 at 3:20 pm to Tigerfan7218
Yeah, at this point going back to Anfield down 1-0 seems like it'd be a blessing
Posted on 1/11/17 at 3:21 pm to Tigerstark
I just don't care for Can playing this far forward... He lacks any type of final ball...
I thought he was best as a #6 last season... he's been poop today.. shouldn't be in starting 11 when everyone's healthy..
Milner has looked shite too
