I would take those 5... Robertson is not a sexy name, but I think he could be Clyne-esque on the left until Sessegnon is ready.. I'd probably prefer a more veteran guy instead...

Cant believe I'm saying it, but Ryan Bertrand (I know... another SOTON player) would be a good stop gap if he was affordable (they have 2 young LBs waiting in the wings, so I think they would be open to sell)..

I'd add another pacey, wide forward to the mix and I'd be okay with that summer... Werner can play as a #9 or wide left... But I want another that can play either side.. Bayern is up for selling Douglas Costa... I'd take him in a heartbeat!

Its been awhile, but just thought I'd drop in to say hello to my new European friends.

Also, big thanks to DByrd for getting us top 4 by starting this thread. Great work, bro.

Lacazette has been rumored to Arsenal or Liverpool for a while. He's said he's open to moving to "the club of his heart" this summer with the insinuation it's one of those two clubs. One of his conditions is champions league football. I'd love to see him spearheading our attack next season flanked by Mane.

I think the main competition for him will ultimately come from Athletico Madrid

Now reading that he has in fact reached a verbal agreement with athletico, pending on the lifting of their recruitment ban.

This is from joe.co.uk from a month ago:

https://www.joe.co.uk/sport/new-images-show-all-three-of-liverpools-rumoured-kits-for-next-season-including-an-orange-third-kit-121839

quote:

Liverpool especially seem to have featured regularly. Only a matter of hours ago, we were told by Footy Headlines - a website with its finger firmly on the pulse when it comes to leaked football kits - that their next away offering will look similar to the green and white shirt they wore during the mid nineties.

Supporting this is this image that's been doing the rounds on social media which shows all three of Liverpool's rumoured new designs for next season. Perhaps most interestingly, their third shirt appears to be bright orange - an unusual colour for a team whose home shirt is red.

The kit you picture above is similar in style to the "rumored" away kit from a month ago. so maybe?

(I prefer the "rumored" away kit over the one you have pictured though.)

I like the pictured rumored away because it's a version of this old school one

I actually really dig the change kit, but that's because it's basically something my old HS would wear.

You're talking about the orange one? I really miss the all yellow and red trim ones we wore a couple years back.

Yes, the orange one... I might actually buy one just to say I have it assuming it's legit.

Will almost certainly get a home kit this year (because they're badass)

By the way, Goal.com's has repeated an intriguing transfer rumor.

Former Real Madrid captain Iker Casillas could make a summer switch to Liverpool, according to AS.

The Spanish publication suggests that the veteran Spain goalkeeper has arranged a pre-contract agreement with the Merseyside club, who return to the Champions League next season having finished in the top four of the Premier League.

Hmm, so Migs would be out in that case no? Can't imagine shipping off Karius at this point, he's got some growing to do, but I can see tons of potential there

FIRST SIGNING COMPLETE....

New physio, Christopher Rohrbeck who worked with Klopp at FSV Mainz. I didn't realize our main physio this season was elevated from the Academy. Hope this improves our injury outlook.

Woah...didn't know that either. This can only be an improvement.

What do you guys think of the progress made by the squad this season? I feel like one of the bigger issues holding us back has been mentality - being able to fight through some adversity, pick up that tough fought 1-0 win, hold off under pressure with a 1 goal advantage, etc. We just seemed mentally weak - not every time, but enough times that it was a problem.

I felt towards the end of the year, we learned something. Not every game, but more often we seemed capable of fighting our way through. Winning some tough games 1-0. Several shut outs to end the year. And with the pressure of CL qualification to boot.

These are good things for us to build upon. Yes, we need to buy some more good players. But we need the squad to be up for the fight in those tough games. What I saw to end the year bodes well.

I agree wholeheartedly. I think that there are several positions that we all know we need upgrades at, but there was definitely some mettle showed by the lads to end the season.

Studge proved that he is still more than useful, and I hope that we keep him on board and actually play him more.

I think that we improved on defense as well, but there are some obvious improvements we need to make as far as personnel goes. Also, I don't care if we have to pay someone their weight in gold, but I am going to die of an aneurysm if we don't start defending set pieces better. Good grief.

It just can't happen for Studge anymore, can it?

https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/daniel-sturridge-liverpool-future-update-13088272

quote:

Daniel Sturridge Liverpool future remains uncertain as striker suffers injury blow

The Reds frontman shone in Wednesday's 3-0 friendly win over Sydney FC in Australia, but it has emerged that he was playing through the pain barrier for the opening 45 minutes after completing a gruelling 24 hours of travelling.

Sturridge will have an injection in his hip in a bid to combat the discomfort when Jurgen Klopp's squad return to the UK on Friday – ruling him out of the World Cup qualifier against Scotland on June 10 and the friendly against France three days later.

I feel bad for him at this point. If 3 games in a week and a half inflames his bad hip, I don't think he'll ever again be the player he was.

The positive (if it can be labeled as such) in this is that he "played through the pain" even in a friendly.

I'll be surprised if we sell him at this point. Things like this can't be kept "secrets" from clubs that you deal with, thus driving down his value.

If he can stay in condition enough to play a couple or three games per month for us next season, it won't hurt my feelings at all to see him on the squad next year.

And he looked really good while doing it... He just needs to rest this summer... and whatever happens, happens... If he is still at the club on 9/1... It wouldn't bother me one bit...
