Now that football is over, I decided to add Fox Soccer and GolTV...

to my DirecTV package. Enjoyed the hell out of the Bayern Munich - Hamburg match on Saturday while at a family member's house. Been slowly getting into soccer more and more. Always followed the national team but now I hope to start catching more club matches and maybe find a team to root for.
So I guess what I'm saying is you will be seeing me around here a little more with what I am sure will be my all too obvious observations and simplistic/stupid questions. We will see where my allegiance falls.

Congrats. I'm jelly. I just stream everything and have to rely on the mercy of the internet and sketchy feeds.

It was only $10 more per month for like 30 channels total (these 2 being the main ones I was in for). Figured with Champions League going on as well I could catch some really good matches. Might take a while for me to get any sort of affinity for a team though if it ever does happen.

I'm thinking of ditching Cox and going with DirecTV, so I can get FSC+ and GolTV in HD. I just dont want to give up CST (Hornets, LSU).
Also, what is the "soccer package" on DirecTV... looks similar to NFL Redzone... worth it?

It wasn't a soccer package I got, although there is one. I got the Sports Package which included the FSC and GolTV as well as a shitload of Fox Sports regional channels. The soccer package looks like it has 8 or 9 channels devoted to Chamions League coverage as well as another 8 or 9 for Euro League coverage. It also has a La Liga channel.
Not having CST does suck at times with DirecTV. Still hoping one day they add it.

Talking to my brother in law about this - he is a big Tottenham fan. He basically said anyone other than Man U or Arsenal is cool for me to like so we can still have Christmas together

Stoke are the internet trolls of the EPL.
Be an individual. Become a Schalke fan.

Yeah I think I'll pass then.

The "soccer package" is free. Kinda like Wimbledon/Aussie Open or British Open/Masters etc coverage is free. It is just all of the matches in UCL and Europa League.

go with arsenal... always fun to pick a rival of someone you know... my old roommate is a huge man U fan and we still go back and forth...
also FS+ on directtv is like $30 extra a month... it's retarded... recommend staying with internet feeds as opposed to going that route.

You should definitely be an Arsenal fan then. The two sides are very competitive skill wise right now, and honestly it would make for a fun family rivalry.

Dish is WAY better than Direct TV. Loads cheaper and, despite what they tell you, I've lost signal ONCE in 2 1/2 years of having it (for like 15 minutes). Considering we live in stormy Louisiana I think that's pretty good.
Trust me Direct TV isn't worth the money.

Huh?
Fox Soccer HD
Gol TV (non-HD)
Don't know about FS+
GolTV is in the Latin package (but broadcasts in English....), which is $2.95 or something a month. It's worth it, IMO, between GolTV and all of the gringos that play in Mexico on the other Messican channels.
