Huge rewards, not only in football, but also in other domains are a joke. And Messi was far away from winning.

They were never a super team. Midfield and backline were trash aside from Hakimi.

38 goals, 25 assists, World Cup and was the best player. If any other player had that resume you’d say it was robbery if he didn’t win it

Prime Thiago Silva, Donnarumma, Marquinos, Veratti, Paredes, Di Maria, etc. They were so stacked in midfield that Draxler rode the bench for years.

Not to mention...MBappe, Messi, Neymar, Icardi, Rafinha, Cavani, Ibra, etc.

That depends entirely on what other players did that year.

Paredes was the only good player. Verratti? Overrated. He was labeled elite after a good performance in a very underwhelming euro tournament. Marquinhos is the most overpaid and overrated back in Europe. Di Maria and Paredes were on their way out and we both know why. Mbappe wanted HIS players, not the best ones. And who replaced Paredes? Midfield turned to shite overnight. Front three couldn’t get service. Didn’t you watch PSG? They were terrible

Marquinos and Kimpembe were two of the best CBs in the world for a solid few years. Donnaruma is one of the three best keepers on the planet. Hakimi is arguably the best fullback asides from maybe Kyle Walker. Verratti was solid as hell for a decade. Di Maria, Mbappe, Messi, Neymar up front is absolutely a top teir front line no matter the age.

They play in such a weak league that whenever they reach europe and face teams with a pulse they struggle with speed/defending.
