Thanks to GMo for the heads up on this:

Six declared "no" votes. Requires 8-4 decision including the newco. Application to the SFL is the alternative. Basically starting over.

There is also talk of the top 2 leagues in Scotland being merged

If that happened it would basically only be demotion for one year

Thread hijack....but what's your take on Murphy going to the Rovers?

I know he is old as dirt, but it's never a good thing to lose your captain. Diarra is going to have to step it up.

Search function is for pants fairies. I'm far too cool for that.

Answer hijack: Murphy is 35 and out of contract. I'm not sure I was comfortable tying up the money he probably wanted. Will give Rovers a veteran presence as they try to comeback. A good player for several years, but I can live with him departing.

i dont understand celtics fans joy with this
if they merge leagues or add one more from first division, its still celtic and no one else
tv ratings and gates are going to fall, so will ad money
and their league will be weakened, bringing down their coefficients for europe

That's my thoughts as well, MJ. The more competition the better. The whole appeal of that league was the Old Firm. Now, just give the title to Celtic and be on your way

"The board is also acutely aware that in making this decision, Hibernian - like other clubs in the SPL - will suffer collateral financial damage at a time of severe economic hardship and uncertainty."

if rangers die then the spl dies then celtic dies
their fans can't get this simple thing through their skulls. I mean what else to you expect for a club that does nothing for british troops and who's fans boo and taunt british troops. They enjoy all the benefits of living in britian yet wont assimilate even after a 100 years of generations

This is an incredibly naive statement. You know what's going on there, culturally as well as historically. Come on, you're better than this, dude.

i love irish people im just keeping it real, its one thing if they are living in ireland acting this way.

to put it in perspective most of us have Hispanic friends, most 2nd or 3rd generation ones are basically american. This would be like not only rooting against the US all the time but openly being against our troops when its the opposite most cheer for merica and a shite ton are in the military.

Seems like people of Irish decent have no real problems in cities like liverpool and manchester

We also aren't occupying Mexico. Scotland and Northern Ireland aren't a part of England, they're a part of Britain. You think those families ended up in Scotland because they wanted to go? That's why its called a diaspora.

The vast majority for political reasons. Celtic was formed to feed the Catholic Irish fleeing the famine. It's just a wholly different situation than the Mexicans in America. You can't expect those who's grandfathers and relatives died at the hands of starvation and persecution to be totally OK with outward signs of that strife all around them.

not the british fault

of course not but 60+ years later while you get all the benefits of a country like britian you are opposed to everything britsh.

Both clubs were founded for good reason but tribalism, religion and other factors fricked it all. Its 2012 not the 50's or even the 80's. Seeing Celtic fans in the 20's hate the british military that keeps them safe is fricking dumb.
