The whole format of the MLS gets looked down on for various reasons like the franchise model. The Chivas experiment failed and yes it looks bad but the league can still turn it into a positive. Im happy they decided to can this disaster team.

The only people that care about the franchise model are dudes online who jerk off to the thought of pro/rel and would find some other reason if not for the franchise reason. They're all small but vocal minority.

a few thoughts:
1) wasn't it rumored kroenke buying up land for a new LA MLS team? people were talking about how crazy it'd be to have 3 LA teams. well, don't have to worry about that now.
2) the league buying a club is a risky move, but in certain situations it is a necessity. here, it seems the situation merited the action.
3) the NHL is a Mickey Mouse organization

Solid response. Its a very small % of people that actually give a shite about the franchise model. And most of them would find some other reason to dismiss MLS if that wasn't the casep

The league buying it for only $25 mil ensures two things:
1) They're going to make a solid chunk of change selling it.
2) No more fricking Chivas in the MLS.

My point is nothing MLS or Americans do in soccer will ever be seen as legitimate to them. At least not anytime soon. frick them. Especially the English who have zero room to talk.

Exactly. The franchise model enabled MLS to grow as much as it has and continue to grow. It was and is necessary.
